    Team announced -

    Hart

    Richards
    Cahill
    Smalling
    Baines?????

    Gerrard
    Parker
    Barry
    Johnson
    Young

    Welbeck

Not as good as the team, that you went for Chelsea. Confused with the selection of Baines, unsure as to what Barry can offer, that we haven't already seen. I've always thought that friendlies are for having a look at players and experimenting, this team has the look of a weakened team, not an experimental one.

I'm a big fan of Baines, Pete. IMO he's a much more effective fullback than Cole. Great attacker, great crosser, great engine and of course great free kicks.

Never really been sold on Baines, not Cole if I'm honest....It's not a position, where we have a wealth of talents TBH.

Poor defensively and a complete liability at crosses played towards his part of the pitch.

Ashley Cole is, by a distance, the best left back in the world.

England have been shite tonight. Gerrard went off with a tight hamstring. Well done Pearce, don't pick him as captain and then get him injured. Prick.

Pearce sent out a really poor team, the FA shouldn't let him coach Torquay, never mind England. Playing both Parker and Barry in the same midfield just boggles the mind, no creativity and no pace. You choose one or the other and since we've seen Barry offer absolutely nothing for over 50 games you would probably choose Parker. The fact that Barry has over 50 caps for England is just embarrassing, he would have never earned a cap for Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Brazil, Argentina ect. Earning 50 for England shows how far we really have left to go. It's no wonder Redknapp is trying to get Scholes to come out of retirement.

Performance wasn't that bad when you consider who was playing but there is a lot of work to do.

Anfield, Gerrard probably won't be considered because of his behavior off the pitch, same as Terry and Cole. Moronic yes but that's the FA for you.

Baines over Cole? Laughing Baines is a good player but even on his worst day Cole is on a whole other level. I agree with Anfield, on his day he is the best LB in the world. He's had by his standards a poor campaign yet he is still in the top 3 LBs in the league.

His clear dive for the penalty today... or are you going to tell me the no-contact that there was, warranted the reaction he gave it?

He was clearly fouled! Sky showed a dozen replays of the contact. Shin to shin, clear as day. Stone wall penalty.

So now anyone suspected of diving is a scumbag, as Anfield said there was at least 6 replays at half time showing the contact but because it's Suarez he has to be shot, punched, pole axed or stabbed for anyone to admit he was fouled.

I'll have to have a rake through all of the old posts to see when people had reacted similarly when people like Drogba, Nani, Bale etc etc have dived in the past.

How about everyone get off the hating Luis Suarez band wagon and let him play football.

Bit of a contradiction claiming there was contact, and then comparing his dive with the likes of Drogba etc. I'm not on the bandwagon hating him, but are you geniunely claiming that was a penalty?

The very fact there is such a debate over whether there was contact or not, and the fact you need 'six replays' to see, just shows how little of it there actually was (I still don't think there was any...), which is why the way he reacted was so hilariously embarrassing.

Don't get me wrong he is a brilliantly talented footballer, we saw that later in the game when he turned, dropped his shoulder and brought a quality save from Sczesny, his unprofessionalism is really disappointing though, and I'm sure it's been discussed on here before.

I think it is a little hypocritical of any football fan, to complain about an opposition player 'diving', we are not living in the 1950s and it is now commonplace. When we see one of 'our' players fall over, we look for justification, normally settling on the 'well, other teams do it' argument, yes, it's frustrating, but I don't hear anyone complaining, when it's their player that does it. I'm sure that we can all name, at least one player per EPL team that has been guilty of diving?

I'm with the sane person who wrote this. It was something that has happened millions of times throughout the history of football, making the most of minimal contact or looking for contact by dragging your foot. It has won World Cups and has affected countless other games around the world but this one instance gets brought up??

Anyway, with Liverpool penalty taking record this season it is hardly any advantage.... Razz

Why would Suarez dive knowing there was a high possibility that the penalty would be missed?

Axe, all 6 replays showed contact, from all different angles.

And it's comical to see a West Ham fan talk shit about Suarez, considering who West Ham's best player in the last 30 years is.

So he nipped a fella on the shoulder? Big fucking deal. Hardly jumping into the ground to kick a fan, stamping on opponents, setting out to purposely injure an opponent or a manager assaulting one of his own players is it?
