People say he is washed up and at his age of course he is past his prime. However I reckon he's going to ground and pound the over-rated Couture for a shock win. All of Coleman's losses in the last 10 years are to people that are considered the very best in the sport (Fedor, Nog, CroCop, Shogun). No shame in losing to any of them. People wrote Shogun off after he struggled against Coleman but his subsequent performances have proved them wrong. I doubt Coleman will ever be a champion again but he'll always put up a good fight.

Re: Mark Coleman v Randy Couture
ok...is that out of ten? or a 10 point must system?
no way Randys boxing is 10/10 and no way in hell Randys sub defense is better than Mark's, also kicks 8/10?
anyway i agree with the thread, Coleman is underrated and i hope he beats the crap out of Randy, goes on to win the belt, eclisping his own record of the greatest career comeback.
1 of those has at least a 50% chance of happening.

Re: Mark Coleman v Randy Couture
I was trying to think of the facets of their game then score based on that, based on importance. I suppose I should have included 'Clinch', Randy would get a 10 for that and Coleman an 8. Makes no difference to the outcome though.

Re: Mark Coleman v Randy Couture
Not sure where you got that from because its all wrong for both fighters.
Coleman is underated IMO I never thought anyone could recover from the complete ass kicking he took from Fedor the second time around, one of the worst beatings ive ever seen a complete demolition job.
Here is that historic picture
I think coming back after that is the greatest comeback ever.
Coleman looked pretty good against a tough and big Stephan Bonnar, great job.
But don't get me wrong, Randy should win this. Randy is quicker, better conditioned and a much better striker. Randy can avoid the takedowns and on the feet he will have a major advantage. Shogun was awful in that fight with Coleman, his conditioning was absolutley horrendous as was Coleman's. Shogun avoided Coleman's takedowns for the most part and Randy is a better wrestler than Shogun. He should take the UD.

Re: Mark Coleman v Randy Couture
I dont know about those stats, Coleman has good kicks then... I cant remember his Kicks being any better than Randys!!
Its an interesting fight, Coleman has looked decent, like a solid top 15 guy (at best) I think Couture has looked a level above him though, the Vera performance was terrible and if it wasnt for that Id think Randy would batter him.
There isnt much in it Wrestling wise, Colemans strength may give him the edge but he will gass hard against Couture and I think will take a lot of Damage in the Clintch and on the Feet. Randy is just Fitter and more well rounded, he has more advantages, I see him winning UD. 29-28 on 2 cards 30-27 on 1 card or so with Coleman winning a close 1st round before he gasses when Randy has him up and down, grappling and striking and mixing up his game.

Re: Mark Coleman v Randy Couture
What do you mean a propper training camp, I heard in that documentart about Kerr I watched him saying he didnt have time for a propper camp with his family. And I remember him saying it after the Shogun fight... But to be honest I find that very hard to believe. Were did you hear that?

Isn't Hammer house a proper training camp? With beasts like Phil Baroni and Wes Simms

Phil Baroni:
We never train together, none of us Hammer House guys. The Hammer House is Coleman’s porch. It has a punching bag on it. I’ve never been to Coleman’s house. I think Randleman stole his punching bag by the way. So there isn’t much of a reason for me to go.

Re: Mark Coleman v Randy Couture
Couture is a HUGE favourite with the bookies in this fight.
Couture (-500), Coleman (+300)
Just too put that into perspective, Wandi (-175) Bisping (+145)

I reckon Couture will wear Coleman out, boring us to death while he does it, as he did against Vera. I like Randy, but he's gotta be the most overated fighter in UFC history?

William Hill have Coleman an 11/4 underdog, with Randy 1/4 fav. Decent enough odds for Coleman, but IMO, not too far off the mark. I just think that Randy is a level above Coleman. Just hope that it's a better fight than Couture/Vera.

Re: Mark Coleman v Randy Couture
For some reason I have this hunch Coleman is going to throw a huge spanner in the works here It seems this fight is leading up to Couture vs Machida/Shogun if he wins but i see Coleman taking home a 29-28 decision winning the first 2 gassing in the 3rd.

He nearly did exactly that against Shogun IMO so no reason why he can't pull it off against randy. The odds being quoted here make coleman a very attractive punt.

You'll get 2 bald dudes bouncing off each other for 15 mins, and then a Randy SD.
Even if Coleman wins it's not exactly an upset, Randy's day of working miracles is over and as much as it pains me to say it he isn't relevant any more.

Re: Mark Coleman v Randy Couture
Guys no offence but how can you call Randy overrated, I think its a bit of a silly statment considering the guy has won so many titles. He may have a style of fighting that is boring but he isn't overrated, he gets the job done!
Coleman is a strange guy, he is a random fighter he might be good he might be bad. I hope he has a good day cause it would make for a good fight, but as the consencious are saying Randy will wear him down, then "oppose his will" on Coleman Ha Ha!
Randy wins this one for me, and hopefully Coleman will retire a legend!!
