Just watched the Overeem fight... i'm sure he's gotten bigger, how on earth is he not getting picked up and if he is doing that naturally I wanna learn his gym workouts ha ha!

He mashed up his opponent, when is the next round???

Just to add something to stir up a little trouble as i haven't been on for a while if he was to fight Fedor now... my money would be on Overeem, mans got some serious power in those hands!

I see him beating sprong too...

Question... does anyone know what the earnings are like for the K1 bouts? and are they anywhere near the earning for the UFC?

Allright mate Ive only seen the OVereem fight but he has bulked down a lot recently, look at his fights last year in K-1 he was 20 lbs heavier...

He weighed 262lbs against Bonjasky or Badr I think and now he is down to 242lbs which I think is a more Ideal weight for him.

Ive no Idea about K-1 pay but I know its pretty high I think 300K for a fight for the top guys I heard... I know OVereem turned down Dream and SF fights because the K-1 pay is much higher...

Havnt watched the rest of the fights, im still so gutted JLB is out I cant bring myself to! Laughing

Aerts vs Mighty Mo is going to be a war!!

Christ that was scary. Overeem just calmly waited whilst Edwards gave him everything he had, then just dropped his ass three times in a row and barely broke a sweat.

As a heavy weight fighter, I'm pretty sure that the best rates are found fighting in K1. The fighters can fight more regularly and they're not restricted to fight in only one organisation, eg Semmy Schillt fought in the Netherlands a month or two before the final 16 even though he's the defending title holder. Also, there's got to be a fair bit of money that can be made once you've won the K1 GP title, it'll be easy to book fights. Remember, MMA fighters still aren't making as good a wage as some of the biggest boxers and kick boxers (without taking into consideration locker room bonuses and cuts of the PPV), especially because of the way Japanese taxes work.

As for Jerome, apparently the fight went to over time and JLB apparently walked out saying that he beat Kyotaro. It looked pretty even from what I was watching but I was speaking to the Missus at the same time so had the fight on mute. He'll be back though, no way they don't have him down as being in on the reserve fight, him versus Kharitanov (boxer versus boxer) would be awesome.

PS: Awesome fact, apparently Kharitanov turned down boxing in the 2004 Olympic games in order to fight in the PRIDE heavy weight GP.

I heard winning the K1 GP makes you 400K, although im not so sure. Can anyone confirm that.

I do know that the top K-1 fighters get paid a very good amount, much more than the average MMA fighter including the UFC. Only guys like Lesnar, Liddell and the one off big draw freakshow's like Toney get paid like them. In general K-1 fighters get paid better I think. Don't think either are anywhere close to boxing.

I've read that figure somewhere as well. I'm not sure if that's a bonus on top of fight purses or whether that's the total amount though.

K1 fighters can fight more frequently compared to your average UFC fighter. The majority of the fighters involved in the K1 World Grand Prix have already fought 3 times this year and not only for one organisation. Especially when you bear in mind that Cain Velasuez and Brock Lesnar will have fought twice by the end of the year.

PS: There are times when I've been watching the current series of The Ultimate Fighter and it makes me chuckle imagining how Giorgio Petrosyan would destroy all of them in a stand up contest. K1 MAX really does make me very happy.

Dont see how Spong is going to beat Overeem, bit of a mismatch. He has a very solid chance of winning it this year.

gutted to see Schilt DQd pale

but you have to keep to the rules, its fair enough i guess.

Overeem is probably favourite now, but Saki is my favourite heavyweight in K1 right now so i will be cheering for him.

Cant wait for the finals, Gunna put off watching it till I can get the full event in HD. Overeem is a beast but apparently Schilt isnt out. Id love to see Overeem vs Schilt in the final. Schilt has looked in good shape but he has seemed more beatable since Badr sparked him I think.

shame Bonjasky and Badr werent in it, would have been the best lineup to date.
