They'll just get better and better IMO.

they will have to find a replacment for puyol soon. if messi was for sale i wonder how much hed be worth.

For anybody not watching it, I suggest putting Sky Sports 1 on and watching the play off final between Reading and Swansea.

    Yep great game.

Glad Swansea won, they're a good team that play attractive football and most importantly they play the game the right way.

I hope they can survive in the prem next year,so forest can resume the good matches we have with them in two seasons time cheers

plus I had to hope swansea won, they beat Forest in the semi's,so it's not so bad losing to the eventual winners is it Wink

Great to see a Welsh team in the prem. Great game. I think Sinclair will do really well in the prem but Swansea will need to add some quality around him.

As for the price on Messi, only 1 club would ever pay for him - Man City. And there's a clause in his contract saying that if they come in for him the buy-out(which is £150m) rises to £250m.

On the issue of Barca replacing Puyol, they believe they already have his replacement in Marc Muniesa who's yet another to have come through their youth team.

    Bob was the second king.

    Joe was the third king.

    Kenny is the fourth king.

    And I'm the fifth king.

I'm expecting a call in a couple of years to take over from Kenny when he decides to step back! haha!

What do you and Pete make of this, King?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-13614405

MTV has defended its controversial reality show Geordie Shore, denying it shows Newcastle in a bad light.

The series, which began last week, follows the antics of eight party-loving friends as they drink, fight and chase the opposite sex.

Kerry Taylor, MTV UK's director of TV, told BBC Newcastle that the cast had "some really admirable qualities that reflect really well on Newcastle".

"We feel that visually we've made Newcastle look really good," she added.

The programme has been criticised by Newcastle Central MP Chi Onwurah, who said it was "bordering on pornographic".

The local tourism board said it relied on "outdated stereotypes" and had provoked a "fierce reaction" among locals.

According to Ms Taylor, though, the show made Newcastle "look like a really vibrant place with a fantastic social scene".

"The show has got some slightly outrageous pieces, and we're absolutely not trying to represent the north-east.

"[But] I do think the qualities that come across in the characters - their warmth, their sense of loyalty to each other and their sense of humour - are really admirable qualities and I think that's a really positive perspective on the north-east."

    Start Quote

We're not making them do anything they don't want to do”

    Kerry Taylor, MTV
The cast members reflected "many of the values of being a Geordie", she added, saying the show had been successful because the stars were likeable.

The first episode, screened last week, saw cast members vomiting, stripping off in a hot tub and brawling in a nightclub.

It achieved the channel's highest ratings for eight years, proving it was "a show people are excited to see", Ms Taylor said.

It provided "a good opportunity for people to talk about Newcastle", she went on, and for the city to use the spotlight to inform viewers about "the other aspects of Newcastle".

The show, a British version of the hit US series Jersey Shore, was "completely real" and not scripted, Ms Taylor continued.

"We're not making them do anything they don't want to do," she stressed.

After the first episode, Chi Onwurah told the Evening Chronicle the show was "exploiting those young people and exploiting our city".

Ms Onwurah said she would ask questions in the House of Commons about the issues raised by MTV's production.

NOT A GOOD DAY FOR MANCHESTER UNITED AND THEIR PLAYERS:

Just to summarize today's news regarding Manchester United and their players:

Ryan Giggs is facing a potential prison sentence for perjury. He's been caught out for lying under oath when trying to get his injunction against Imogen Thomas after it came out that he'd been shagging his brother's wife for the last 8 years AND had a secret flat in Manchester that he kept for the purposes of "entertaining women". Can't see him playing again, even if he doesn't go to jail.

Ashley Young is set to go to United for 20mil. This is hilarious because nobody else bid for him, and Villa were only looking for 15mil. Fergie shows his genius again. In more Ashley Young news, his wedding has been cancelled after he was caught shagging someone else's wife. Good to know he'll fit in with Giggs and Rooney.

And finally, the funniest story of the day.

Having illegally approached Phil Jones, and given him a medical without the OK from Blackburn, United now face 3 possibilites:
    1) Being outbid by Liverpool for the player if Liverpool really want him and aren't just driving the price up.
    2) Liverpool driving the price up and United having to pay 25mil rather than the 16mil they had planned.
    3) A transfer ban as this is the latest in a number of illegally conducted transfers United have conducted and they have been warned and fined before.

    1. Giggs won't go to prison, and he'll play again next season, the Imogen story broke with about 6 games left of the season and he still played really well despite that, he'll have another season and then probably call it quits. Most football fans are fickle minded, they'll have forgot about all this Imogen business by October when another story breaks, hopefully Gerrard will have his injuction lifted about him getting a 16 year old girl pregnant!

    2. Nani will probably be off loaded to Inter for around 12-15 million if not more, so it won't be that big a worry having to pay 20 for Young, with two out and out wingers in Valencia and Young on each flank we'll be an even bigger threat next season, especially with that mess Nani gone who just cuts inside on any opportunity and loses the ball 9 times out of 10. I'd much rather pay 20 million for Young then 20 million for Jordan Henderson.

    3. We'll get Phil Jones for £16.5 million. All this bullshit about 25 million is simply that, bullshit. There was a clause in his contract that the Chicken boys put in themselves when they he signed a new contract in January that Jones will cost £16.5 million, we met that, they accepted that. This nonsense will be completed once Jones is back from the U21's.

Only bad thing for United this week is Sneijder commiting to Inter, the clubs were close to a deal but Sneijder wanted 175k a week, which United worn't prepared to give him. Either Modric or Nasri instead will be a decent summers work, Modric the more likely signing.

Well let's have a look at this.

First of all, Henderson is cost us 13mil and Ngog. So 13.1mil. For the best allrounder midfielder in England under the age of 21 and an England international for the next ten years. The same Jordan Henderson Fergie has bid for twice. 15mil cash turned down last summer.

Second of all, Andy Carroll didn't cost Liverpool a penny. All Chelski's money, they overpaid for Torres so it didn't matter what we paid for Carroll. He's also England's number 9.

Finally, United haven't signed DeGea and if they do it's going to be 20 mil for an unproven over-rated keeper coming off a poor season who's not going to be anywhere close to the level of VDS for at least 4 years and it's looking more and more likely that you won't get Jones, or if you do you'll be spending nearly 10mil more than you'd planned. Minimum you'll have to pay now is 23mil. Potentially all you'll be getting is a transfer ban and Ashley Young.

Oh, and Defour?? Decent player but nothing special. Not exactly something to get excited over. He looked a big prospect a couple of years ago but he's not progressed. Horrendous window for United so far. Nobody signed, Young potentially the only one coming, Scholes and VDS retired, Giggs heading for retirement or jail AND Dalglish stealing the two players Ferguson was planning to build his defense and midfield around.

Payne what do you make of this:

Nottingham Forest have sacked manager Billy Davies with immediate effect.

The Championship club are now in talks with former England manager Steve McClaren about the vacant post.

BBC Sport understands McClaren was rejected by Aston Villa, and that he will accept the Forest job on Monday.

It's a shame really,I'd of probably prefered for him to finish his last year on his contract and give him a last chance of getting us up.

I've been hearing rumblings about this for a few weeks now,but I didn't think there was much in it to be honest,I mean Billy saved us from the drop back to lg 1,3 seasons ago and then took us to the play offs twice back to back,so he hasn't lost his job for footballing reasons.

He lost his job because he has been in a constant battle with Dougherty and our transfer panel about not getting the backing he wants or they couldn't tie down his first chioce targets, plus he and his agent have touted himself to plenty of other clubs since he's been with us.

Also forest have spent alot of money on our youth system and have quite a few good prospects, but Billy has been very reluctant to use them.

He's a good proven manager for this level, but Billy is all about Billy and nothing else.

If McClaren gets the job,I could think of worse managers than McClaren to have at this level,he has plenty of good contacts in England and now he has his fingers in a wider european market,so hopefully he'ds be able to bring in some good reasonably priced talent, also McClaren did a great job working with the Boro youth system,so maybe he is the right man for the job.

Plus he is another former Derby manager(well assistant)and we all know how well ex Derby managers do when they finally see the light at the other end of the A52 cheers

Billy to Cardiff probably, well if the malaysians will open the check books for him that is
