Re: Carwin - Lesnar
Technically Lesnar's a little better in terms of striking and might have a better chin but Carwin's got the power. I actually see Carwin working back to his feet enough times to get the chance to KO Lesnar in the 2nd

Re: Carwin - Lesnar
Lesnar's never been hit by anyone with real power. Gonzaga hits REAL hard. Carwin was wobbled but he took them. And Lesnar doesn't have the technique of Gonzaga, he needs momentum to put his power into his punches. If Carwin stays close, Lesnar won't be able to put his power into his punches. Carwin on the hand, can knock out anyone.

ppozma Watch the Neil Wain fight too
http://www.mma-core.com/videos/_Shane_Carwin_vs_Neil_Wain_UFC_89?vid=10001930&tid=100
The guys Buckles carwins Legs with a big shot. Twice we have seen him rocked.
Lesnar wasnt Rocked like either of those shots, People say Couture did rock him but when I rewatch it I thought that was clutching at straws to say Lesnar isnt that good.
Not Records number of KO's etc...
Watching them fight
+Carwin has much lower hands than Lesnar
+Lesnar is much taller and has reach
+Lesnar is quicker
+Lesnar lands good straight
= Lesnar will win this on the feet.
Chesty, Lesnar not being able to finsih him? Why? Its not like he lacks the power to finish a gassed Carwin if Wain can Rock him. Carwin will puff after Lesnar leaning on him, wether ists 10 or 20 mins.
Heath Herring whatever you think about him is tough as they come, he can take all sorts of beating. A green Lesnar not puting him away insted of riding him like a rodeo may make the records look like Lesnar isnt the finisher Shane is but Technically I see more holes in Shanes standup game where we all think he needs to win this.

Carwin's stand-up is much better than Lesnar's! Lesnar's never been hit by a HW with real HW power. Let's see what happens when Carwin touches his chin.

Certainly not to the degree that Gonzaga rocked him, but he obviously can take a punch!rudeboyben84 wrote:ppozma Watch the Neil Wain fight too

Like Anfield says, if he can keep close and get Lesnar to the fence like Couture seemed to, and hit him with those short punches he gave Mir, then we might well see if Brock has a chin

I'm hoping Carwin wins, I really am.
Did you see the countdown? Brock mocks Division 2 wrestling, Carwin gets kinda pissed, and says he would gladly challenge Brock to an exhibition Wrestling match.
Carwin also says the no.1 and 2 guys at wrestling in the US at the moment, are div 2 wrestlers. Although he didnt say what weight div they are.
Im going to look it up later.

Re: Carwin - Lesnar
i think the two wrestlers Carwin is talking about are both heavyweights, one of them is Tervel Dlagnev who was a divison 2 wrestler but is the number one heavyweight for the US freestyle team.
So Carwin might be partly correct, where the top guys in divison 2 can be as good as divison 1 guys. However, i think the top wrestlers in divison 1 are generally better, Dlagnev wasn't the best until after people like Cole Konrad had retired from wrestling.

div 1 and div 2 are equal. it's the schools that are ranked by division, not the competitors.

yes, but dont the best schools get the best guy out of high school in general??
for example if you are offered a scholarship you will go for the D1 school.

Not necessarily. With wrestling a lot of universities recruit locally. A lot of it is about location.

I'm seriously undecided about this one. I think I predicted Lesnar to win but I think I might need to change that.

Re: Carwin - Lesnar
It's a hard fight to pick a winner,I personally think if Brock stands to long with carwin,Carwin has the superior hands and will drop him.
but on the other hand,if Brock gets the early takedown,I don't see Carwin getting back to his feet, with Brock completely controlling him on the ground, even if Brock doesn't finish it in the 1st,I can see Carwin being to gassed to be a serious threat after having Brock on him for a full rd and from there on,Brock will have an easier time taking him down and pounding him out.
But this is deffinitely not a fight I would be putting my money on,either way.

Re: Carwin - Lesnar
If Brock is able to man handle Carwin and do what he has done in his previous fight. And completely dominated him.
Then the rest of 265 division should just give up now.

Re: Carwin - Lesnar
We know Brock can be subbed and we know that he can probably out wrestler any Top HW,what we don't know is how he can handle a good striker yet.
With these huge UFC HW's there are to many style match ups and differant ways to lose,to think any of them can go on,without be stopped.
It's like I think Cain can beat nearly any UFC HW,but then I think he has the least chance, compared to even your lower ranked Gonzaga's to beat Brock, his style I would think, just wouldn't suit fighting against Brock.

Look at Rogan's face
Rogan is thinking to himself, if these 2 go at it now, im going to trample on Arianny and Chandela and get the fuck out of here. Or maybe he's high and thinks Brock is a viking again, who knows?
Dana is looking at Carwin and saying, dont you even fucking think about beating my biggest asset in MMA.
Bruce is looking at them thinking "I can take them".

Re: Carwin - Lesnar
is Carwin standing on a box?
I saw photo's after the Mir fight (I think it was), and Lesnar seemed to dwarf him.

Re: Carwin - Lesnar
you can say what you like about Josh Barnett, but he certainly knows his shit when it comes to MMA.
Interesting to hear Bob Sapp's buddy and cornerman (sort of) complain about guys getting by on mainly size
He has a point about the lack of technique displayed form brock and Shane, but its a balancing act between working on technique, and working on being huge and in such good shape.
