Carwin Out Of TUF Finale

Former UFC interim heavyweight champion Shane Carwin has suffered a knee injury and will not face Roy Nelson on Dec. 15, promotion president Dana White said Wednesday.

It is not yet known which knee Carwin injured. UFC is seeking an opponent for Nelson.

"Wow! It never ends; Carwin blew his knee out," White said on Twitter.

Carwin has been out of action since June 2011, when current heavyweight titleholder Junior dos Santos defeated him by unanimous decision.

After that loss, Carwin (12-2) injured his back during a training session. He underwent surgery to repair the injury.

Less than a week ago, Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Keith Kizer said Carwin and Nelson had passed prefight drug tests for their December fight.

Carwin and Nelson were opposing coaches on Season 16 of "The Ultimate Fighter." They directed harsh words toward one another for several months.

Their fight was scheduled to headline TUF 16 Finale at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Barnett and Cormier have pretty much been ruled out according to Ariel Helwani.

The fight is a month away so who's a potential opponent for Nelson?

Big Foot Silva? Rumoured to be fighting Overeem in February on the Aldo-Edgar card
Kongo? Haven't heard any rumours, hasn't fought since July
Gonzaga? Scheduled to fight Rothwell in January
Rothwell? Scheduled to fight Gonzaga in January
Barry? Scheduled to fight on the card against Del Rosario. One of Carwin's coaches.
Del Rosario? Scheduled to fight on the card against Barry.

My personal choice would have been Mark Hunt but he said two weeks ago he was only at about 60% following surgery on his knee so I doubt he's even training fully yet.

Also Gray Maynard is out of UFC 155 and Jim Miller is replacing him against Lauzon.

Wat about Struve vs Nelson ? Struve feels he has improved and wanted a big name, IMO he should be rematching Nelson or Browne to show he has improved defensively.

With Shane's past allegations Isn't this 'knee' Injury very convenient with hoopla surrounding the VADA pre fight testing or Is Carwin just plain old broken down and shot ?.

I'd say a rematch with Struve is the best Idea and really the most interesting match up to make but I've got a feeling It will be Pat Barry.

Dont see it Being Barry, he is way down the ladder after Lavar kicked his ass.

I like a Struve rematch or Hunt both of those seem Logical choices but I rekcon its time UFC calls up AA again. Thats a rematch that makes sence now.

Bad news about Maynard! Tough going being a Lw that devision is rediculously stacked and come Jan when the SF guys will come over and Alvarez comes over it might be the strongest devision MMA has ever seen in one place. Maynard has a long road back to title contention I think.

Hunt is out to nexy year he says

Can see the 2 of them making for an entertaining fight but Nelson seens a level ablve Meathead, the fight doesnt make sence with him coming off a loss to Kongo and turning down Cormier.

Giving AA a callup would have been a far better Idea and im sure he is still a bigger name than Meathead.

I'm sort of surprised Kongo turned the fight down but on short notice Meathead isn't too bad.

Shame Browne is injured id have liked him vs Nelson.
