MMA Hall Of Shame Empty MMA Hall Of Shame

Post  Moose Stuff For Money... Tue Oct 13, 2009 10:23 pm

As we have a Hall Of Fame it seems only fitting that we should also have a Hall Of Shame to honour/mock those fighters whose careers didn't quite go as planned.

    . Andy Wang (7-7-1)
BJ black belt who lost a standup fight against Brandon Melendez in TUF5 and broke down in tears, subsequently kicked off BJ Penn's team for not following instructions.

    . Art Jimmerson (0-1)
Jimmerson competed in the very first UFC competition, losing to Royce Gracie while wearing only one boxing glove; he has since been nicknamed Art "One Glove" Jimmerson. His loss came by submission after being taken to the ground and tapping out despite sustaining no surmountable damage.

    . Bob Sapp (10-6-1)
Looked like a beast in his first few fights in 2002. Tapped by Big Nog after throwing him around, then got his jaw broken by a Cro Cop left hand. After the tears things have got steadily worse for Sapp.

    . Bryan Fry
Won a unanimous decision against congenital amputee Kyle Maynard.

. Charles 'Krazy Horse' Bennett (22-16-2)
Probably more infamous for his altercations outside of the ring/cage than in competition. These include a scrap against The Chute Box team and an assault on a sparring partner with a pipe.

    . Dave Faulkner
TUF9 competitor who quit on his stool at the end of the end of the second round of his fight against Frank Lester sighting exhaustion. At least he enjoyed it...

    . David Gardner (17-14)
Best known for waving to the crowd mid fight and giving Shinya Aoki his back. Gardner was soon subbed in a rear naked choke.

    . Eddy Bengtsson (3-2)
KTFO by an Aleks Emelianenko jab.

    . Emmanuel Yarborough (1-2)
6'8 600lbs sumo, only win is a sub via smother.

    . Evangelista 'Cyborg' Santos (17-13)
His wife would probably batter him.

    . Giant Silva (2-6)
7'2 giant lost via TKO to 5'9 Minowa.

    . Jason Winthers (1-2)
Following a TKO loss against Richard Blake at 'Rebel Fights: Unleashed Fury' he tested positive for: Stanozolol and the veterinary steroid Trenbolone (as well as methadone and morphine).

    . Joe Son (0-4)
The only man to lose to repeated groin strikes.

    . Jon Koppenhaver (10-3)
Released by the UFC then Bellator for comments made about Evan Tanner's death and then Barack Obama. After deciding on a career in porn he went on the rampage at a party attacking many of the guests sending several to hospital, legged it before the cops arrived.

    . Josh Barnett (24-5)
Roid King, three failed tests. His final failed test was partly responsible for the collapse of Affliction MMA.

    . Junie Browning (4-1)
TUF contestant with anger management and alcohol issues. Released by the UFC after assaulting three medical staff after taking an overdose.

    . Kalib Starnes (9-4)
Despite holding victories over half decent fighters such as Jason MacDonald and Chris Leben, Starnes will for ever be infamous with MMA fans for his bizarre performance against Nate Quarry.

    . Ken Shamrock (27-13-2)
Should have retired after his victory over Kimo with a record of 22-4-2, unfortunately Ken tarnished his legacy by continuing. The World's Worst Trash Talker ended up jobbing to Robert Berry and then failed a drug's test following a win over Ross Clifton.

    . Kit Cope (2-5)
TUF reject, failed a drugs test after TKO loss to Rob McCullough for WEC lightweight title. Claimed to have a sex tape of Gina Carano.

    . Sentōryū Henri Miller (6-9)
    5'9 300lbs former sumo wrestler.

    . Shannon Ritch (97-73-2)
Brazilian ju-jitsu blackbelt who has lost via submission 51 times.

    . Sherman Prendergast (11-14)
    Substandard fighter.

    . Rob Browning
    Junie Browning Lite

    . Rolles Gracie (3-1)
Rolles Gracie Jr. is a Brazilian Mixed martial artist and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner. He is a 2nd degree black belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and the son of one of the pioneers of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Rolls Gracie. He also has no gas tank.

    . Thales Leites (15-3)
Earned a UFC middleweight title shot against Anderson Silva at UFC97, however he was scared to stand with the champion and spent most of the fight lying on his back.

    . Tim Sylvia (25-6)
    Because he's Tim Sylvia.

    . Thomas Ramirez (0-1)
Claimed to be 200-0 in challenge fights. KO'd in 8 seconds by Don Frye at UFC8.

    . Yoshihiro Takayama (0-4)
Japanese professional wrestler, tapped to a Bob Sapp armbar.

    . Zuluzinho (17-6)
6'7 390lbs monster who got tapped by a Butterbean armbar.

    For starters I'll nominate...

Kalib "The Running Man" Starnes (9-4-1)
Despite holding victories over half decent fighters such as Jason MacDonald and Chris Leben Starnes will for ever be infamous with MMA fans for his bizarre performance against Nate Quarry.

    Joe Son (0-4)
Lost all four fights, including a particularly painful defeat at UFC 4 against Keith Hackey, repeated groin shots is not a pleasant way to lose. Now in jail for his part in a gang rape.

    Tim "Timmeh" Sylvia (25-6)
    Because he's Tim Sylvia.

I'd like to nominate Giant Silva - I've only seen one of his fights but he looked absolutely petrified from the start against someone half his size and then lost in a couple of minutes due to a leg lock. His only saving grace was it was against Minowa!!

    Zuluzinho! kimura'd by Butterbean!
Takayama would be in it aswell (armbarred by Sapp) but he is saved by the Frye fight.

Even though he's a grade 'A' bell-juendo it's harsh to put Timmeh in there considering his record is actually ok, but I suppose anybody with a KO loss to a 90-yr old boxer has no excuses so I'll accept it............

Also in there needs to be Emmanuel Yarbrough, the world's largest 'athlete' and the only man ever to lose to somebody the equivalent of 2 entire Brock Lesnar's smaller than him.

Then there's the inimitable Art Jimmerson, the only man ever to tap out due to fear alone.

I must confess I don't mind Timbo as much lately and would quite like to see him back competing against decent level competition, maybe I'm cracking up. However, his his inclusion in the Hall Of Shame is more based more on his personality than his MMA record. Getting KO'd by Ray Mercer in 8 seconds doesn't help either...

This one might not make it as he is also in the Hall of Fame but Josh Barnett must be a likely candidate.

Isn't it 3 times he has been caught on the juice?? Anyway, the last time brought down a whole promotion and stopped us from seeing one of the few "superfights" that had not been fought in Pride when the Fedor fight was cancelled at the last moment.

    Dave Faulkner
The UK's number 1 pick for the Hall of Shame.

Josh Barnett? I ain't sure about, 3 failed tests is plain daft but there are still a lot of folk out there with time for him. I'll leave that one open for further discussion.

Yuji Nagata got destroyed twice but he was fighting Cro Cop and Fedor.

Dave Faulkner? The guy bottled out of his chance, but didn't he really enjoy doing so? Surely Andy Wang has a bigger claim as a failed Ultimate Fighter contestant?

    Jason "Strangebrew" Thacker!

watched a bit of TUF1 on espn classic last night and this guy seemed like the biggest loser ever even if he was a nice guy, by far the worst fighter and smallest LHW on the show, he should have been a welterweight, he lost his only UFC fight by K.O to Leben. How could an olympic alternate be so bad?

answer: he was an olympic alternate in gymnastics. Rolling Eyes

Ross Clifton should go in for being the only man since 2004 to fail to knock out the world's most dangerous man.

In a bitterly ironic twist, he then became the first man to actually be beaten into a living death by Ken Shocked

    RIP though of course.

Honorable mention to Jorge Gurgel for being one of the most talented BJJ practitioners in the world, yet choosing to lose every fight by taking huge and unnecessary punishment on the feet. While we're on the subject of Rich's mates then we should also acknowledge the guy he used to train with in his garden shed, who went on to offer absolutely nothing on TUF, I forget his name.....

Andy Wang has got to go in, he really is the measuring stick for any bad fighter.

Who can ever forget this... WaaaWaaa

7-7-1 record isn't too bad but he has lost to some really shit fighters. He is a BB in BJJ, I have no idea how legit it actually is because ive never seen him use it. He decides to throw ineffective punches and get owned. Horrible, just horrible.

Dave "Bispings golden boy" Faulkner should go in, just because he had fun doesn't mean he was fucking awful. There are so many bad fighters who appeared on TUF, Jason Thacker one of the many.

But Wang has got to go in!

Right, TUF's finest Faulkner and Wang are in. I ain't sure about Jason Thacker though, he was completely out of his depth in that TUF show. If I get another nomination for him then I'll add him.

I think Thomas Ramirez has to go in as well. Mad

Ross Clifton was a bum and Shammy had to roid up to beat him, is that enough for inclusion?

Surprised it took so long for someone to mention good old Bob.

If you want to include Shammy, IM ALL FOR IT.

Not only for roiding to beat Clifton but also for his horrible coaching on TUF.

This is a pretty description of how it went

Plus he lost to Robert Berry or he threw the fight in which case he is SHAMrock.

Big Bob has to go in as well.
