http://mmajunkie.com/news/20367/fedor-emelianenko-and-camp-consider-dec-4-fight-with-antonio-silva.mma?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+mmajunkie+(MMAjunkie.com+Feed)Fedor Emelianenko (31-2 MMA, 1-1 SF) will in the coming week decide what his immediate future holds in Strikeforce, according to a source close to the fighter.
While speculation on Emelianenko's next opponent has centered around current heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem or a rematch with Fabricio Werdum, the source said a contest with Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva (14-2 MMA, 1-1 SF) on Dec. 4 is currently on the table for the Russian's final fight on his current Strikeforce contract.
Strikeforce has yet to determine a city or venue for the Dec. 4 event, and officials could not be reached for comment.
Emelianenko was stopped for the first time in his career when Werdum submitted him in 69 seconds at "Strikeforce and M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Werdum." His only previous loss was on a technicality when a cut rendered him unable to continue a fight with Tsuyoshi Kosaka in December 2000.
The submission loss knocked him from the No. 1 spot he previously held on most top-10 lists.
Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker earlier told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that Emelianenko's return date has not been determined, though he said it would likely be "later" than the promotion's next major event, which is currently planned for Oct. 9 in San Jose, Calif.
Coker also told Sherdog.com that Silva was among three fighters (along with recent signee Sergei Kharitonov and Overeem) under consideration to meet Emelianenko.
Silva most recently stopped former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski by decision in May's "Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery."
Emelianenko signed a three-fight deal with Strikeforce this past August after intense negotiations with the San Jose, Calif.-based promotion and the UFC. He made his debut this past November when he stopped the previously undefeated Brett Rogers at "Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers."
Silva was outpointed by Werdum on the main card of the CBS-televised "Fedor vs. Rogers."

I don't get this. Surely Fedor has to rematch Werdum, if fit, or go in against Overeem? They are the fights that pose the biggest questions for him and will draw in the fans.

He loses and then goes and takes on fight against someone outside top 10?? Werdum is injured we know, and Barnett cant fight in US. So i think M-1 and Fedor are ducking Overeem again.
I dont think he deserves to go ahead of Werdum or Brock in rankings if he wins this.
With regards to the fight, Big Foot is a very strong test, he's good on the ground and his striking looked so good against AA and has big power in his shots. Also has size advantage on Fedor. Not an easy fight by any means but not a fight most fans want to see also.

Overeem is fucking off and doing K-1 again if SF dont give him Werdum so I think their hands are tied and Outside these 2 (who diserve to fight each other) Bigfoot is the best test.
Bigfoot was Fedor's 2nd choice if the Werdum fight originally fell through and IMO Bigfoot would beat Werdum in a rematch. Bigfoot is a really solid performer, good striking, grappling, BJJ, Chin, Power, Size, Cardio.... he underperformed against Werdum but its hard to fault him.
Good matchmaking Overeem vs Werdum for the title Bigfoot vs Fedor gets the winner.

I suppose you're right. If Overeem does match up with Werdum then Bigfoot is a logical fight.

Werdum is out for a good few months into 2011. Overoid-Fedor would have made the most sense. Its not like SF have a problem giving a HW title shot to a guy that just lost.....
Overeem has been chasing Fedor for all this year, i just dont think M-1 want to Fedor to fight AO.
Who and when is Overeem fighting in k-1? I did not hear about that mate.

Ill try and find a link but he says he wants Werdum and if he doesnt get him he will compete in the WGP.
Id rather see Fedor vs Overeem but Overeem seems to have them by the balls here. But your right they gave Rogers a shot coming off a loss and if Werdum is injured surely Fedor is number 1 contender by default.
Strange AO doesnt want to fight him all of a sudden...

Heres hoping Werdum is ready to go earlier than planned because I can see Overeem focusing on K-1 again.

Fedor has never ducked Overeem and he's not doing it now. As Ben said, Overeem has committed to K1 for the rest of the year.
