JDS has trained his BJJ with the Nog bros and Maia, and he trains wrestling with Munoz. They all have good things to say about him, he is very explosive and strong when he escapes.

Ok he isn't as good as Nelson on the ground but he should have enough to avoid the takedown and even he does get taken down he should be able to escape with minimum damage.

Nelson is dangerous on the feet with his power and he KOed Shaub who is a good striker and Struve who is a good kickboxer. But niether of those are on the level of JDS's striking, he should have a clear advantage standing. Kimbo managed to rock Nelson a few times and this was before he begain training correctly. JDS should be too much.

I'd love to know what gives you the idea Jimmy, that Nelson was signed because he would make for good tv? WTF? That was Kimbo, NOT Nelson.

Even great ground fighters like the Nogs would have trouble getting up if Nelson took them down.

There's absolutely nothing to indicate that JDS has good takedown defence, and even less to indicate that should Nelson put him down that he would get up quickly with minimum damage.

It's not just Nelson's skills on the ground, it's his body type. Because he's so short and weighs so much, it means that his body mass is HUGE. JDS is in trouble if Nelson gets him down.

There is, apparantley he shrugs off Munoz's takedowns easily, and he is an excellent wrestler. Im pretty sure I saw a video on one countdown show. As for escaping with no damage, watch the Gonzaga fight. He got takendown and got up with no problems.

Good point on Nelson's body type, it seems like the only way to escape from being under the moon as Rampage would say is to stay a live till the end of the round. You either have to escape imediatley or time Nelson out because there is no way your getting that gut off you!

    Munoz is 185lbs and about 5ft 8inches.

Nelson is 260 and 6ft or so.

Nothing to suggest JDS is going to shrug off Nelson.

Munoz is taller than 5'8 isn't he? I think its more like 5'11 or 6'0.

Munoz however is still a far greater wrestler than Nelson and he is a lot more explosive with his takedowns. Does Nelson even train wrestling? There isn't much to suggest Nelson can take JDS down in the first place.

Nelson has taken down people with FAR better TD defence than JDS(such as Arlovski) and has always shown himself to have excellent takedowns. Nelson has trained wrestling as part of his grappling for the last decade or so and has certainly shown he has what it takes to take JDS down.

Munoz looked tiny last time i saw him fight, he's prob 5'10 tops. Doesn't matter that he's a far better wrestler than Nelson, size matters in takedowns. GSP is a better wrestler than Frank Mir but i know who'd have the advantage if they were both trying to down a Cheick Kongo type.
