Re: All Time Greatest Top 10
Mine;
1. Wanderlei Silva - His run in PRIDE was incredible and only rivalled by Chuck's reign in the UFC around the same time. Total domination for five years.
2. Chuck Liddell - Like Wanderlei, ruled his promotion for a massive amount of time.
3. Fedor Emelianenko - Because he's Fedor and is still yet to be halted. MMA's answer to Chuck Norris.
4. Anderson Silva - Perfectionist, when he's in the mood he's the best in the world. The Zlatan Ibrahimovic of our sport.
5. Georges St-Pierre - Has cleaned out the most competitive division in all of MMA, only losing to a legend in Hughes, and a lucky shot from Serra. Has avenged both losses.
6. BJ Penn - The best lightweight of all time bar none.
7. Matt Hughes - Ruled the UFC's welterweight division for a long time, with memorable wins over Gono, Newton (x2), Sakurai, Sherk, St-Pierre, Trigg (x2), Riggs, Penn, Serra and both Royce AND Renzo Gracie.
8. Dan Severn - The ultimate can crusher. His record is 93-16
9. Dan Henderson - Goes, Newton, Yvel, Nogueira, Sobral, Gracie, Ninja, Bustamante (x2), Gono (x2), Belfort, Wanderlei, Palhares and Franklin are the standout names in his W column.......... Oh he's also beaten some Z-level Brit whose name i forget
10. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira - Must be livid that Mr. Emelianenko was alive in his lifetime, if not for The Last Emperor, Minotauro would have ruled the heavyweight division for many many years. Phenomenal BJJ coupled with crisp standup and an superhuman chin made him one of the toughest guys on the planet.

Re: All Time Greatest Top 10
Nice thread. I'd change two of those guys.
1.Fedor
2.Wandy
3.Liddell
4.GSP
5.BJ Penn
6.Randy Couture- There is no one else in the world like him. A 46 year old man who is still competing at the highest level. He started the sport at 34 and was really meant to be fed to Belfort but time and time again he has proved everyone wrong and against all odds has pulled off wins. Some will point to him being gifted title shots, which to a certain extent is true but at the end of the day he has justified them. He is the "Natural"
7.Hughes
8.A Silva
9.Sakuraba- The Gracie hunter. Probably the first real freakshow fighter but I say this as a good thing. Sakuraba is small MW but has fought huge HWs and actually won. His record is very impressive, the 4 Gracies, Belfort, Newton, Mezger, Rampage, Randleman, Minowaman, Shamrock and Funaki. A very impressive record.
10.Big Nog
Randy for me definitley goes in ahead of Severen, he has achieved a lot more in a shorter span. I can't accept that a man who lost to Thompson is in the top 10 greatest fighters. Hendo and Saku is very close.

Re: All Time Greatest Top 10
no abuse if they're just your favourite fighters...my list would look alot different if it was just my favourites (anderson = not top 500)
but excellent call on Frank Shamrock, can't beleive i forgot him, he would be on both of my lists.

Re: All Time Greatest Top 10
to be hounist im suprised no one called Hendo, this guy had two titles in pride and has beat some tough guys! As much as people hate him Jake Sheilds has to be close he hasn't lost in five years although the competition hasn't been the best. What about Frank Mir?

Glad i'm not the only one who sees Hendo as an all time great Pins
I think some of us have jumped the gun here, missing out on the obvious ones like F. Shamrock, Mirko and Sakuraba... but there's a few others like; Miletech? Ricco? Barnett? Tamura? MINOWAMAN?? Lil' Evil?? Rampage??? MTB????

Re: All Time Greatest Top 10
The greatest fighters should be in the top ten due to titles won I guess, and dominance in weight division...
hows about:
Shogun - former pride champ and soon to be ufc champ

Re: All Time Greatest Top 10
YES LIL EVIL
But as much as I love him, I don't think he really is in the top fighters ever.
Im not sure why Coleman is getting votes honestly. A HOF yes, but not top 10 or even top 15 all time. Royce shouldn't be in either, or Igor. ok I know he changed the landscpae of MMA but really Heilo deserves the credit for that. When you look at all these guys records its not that impressive.
Frank Shamrock is someone I've possibly overlooked.

Are any of those really top 10 fighters? Do records mean very little when you judge them? The one I would consider there is Barnett but I think his legacy has been tarnished with being caught on the roids three times. A HOF maybe, but not a top 10 all time fighter. He got the shit kicked out of him 3 times by Cro Cop.

10. Nog - 2nd best Heavy ever, was really between him and Hughes I suppose but im a notorious Pride nut hugger!
