OK so a while ago we had a discussion surrounding wether Fedor was being tested enough against top fighters and should he still be the #1 HW?
I came up with a system based on Ben's ranking system....
1. Fedor Emelianenko (+15)
2. Brock Lesnar (+14)
3. Frank Mir (+13)
4. Cain Valezques (+12)
5. Antonio Nogueira (+11)
6. Junior Dos Santos (+10)
7. Shane Carwin (+9)
8. Alistair Overeem (+
9. Fabricio Werdum (+7)
10. Brett Rogers (+6)
11. Andrei Arlovski (+5)
12. Gabriel Gonzaga (+4)
13. Aleksander Emelianenko (+3)
14. Antonio Silva (+2)
15. Mirko Crocop (+1)
I'm going to start a ranking system with the following rules:
1. Fighters will get points for every win over an opponent
2. Fighters get no points for a loss
3. Fighters only score points in fights against other fighters in the Armbar top 15 (at the time of the fight)
4. Beating the #1 ranked fighter gains you 15 points, #2 ranked fighter - 14 points etc until the #15 ranked fighter gains you 1 point.
5. Only sanctioned MMA fights count
6. Fighters will get 5 bonus points for keeping the fight out of the judges hands (ie any finish)
So for example if Carwin TKO's Mir then he will score 18 points (13 for beating Mir and 5 for the TKO)
If Fedor submits Werdum he will score 12 points (7 for beating Werdum and 5 for the Sub)
Lets see how that top 15 looks in 6 months time based on that points system?
So based on that system there are now 2 fighters that officially enter the new ranking system. Obviously as time passes all the top 15 fighters will join the list. It will really only start to make sense as more time passes but just to get the ball rolling...
1. Shane Carwin (18)
2. Frank Mir (0)
