That looks pretty amazing, and the detail of Monson's tats is outstanding. I REALLY REALLY hope this game plays well, my only concern is with the number of different aspects to the sport (striking, takedowns, subs etc.) how they can fit it on one controller, without using boring WWE game button bashing like Undisputed.

They at least have Striking controlls perfect... Like fight night but a Shoulder buttong Switches between punches and Kicks.
Id Imagine you hold another trigger in for Shooting for TD' and Grappling but the movements will be controlled by the stick while holding a shoulder button.
Id imagine Groundwork will be the same, movement stick (left) controlls your fighters positions, Right Stick throws your strikes as per normal but right stick while holding a grapple button would initiate a Submission...
I think thats how theyre going to work it, Ill try and find the artlcle that explains it better....
Graphics better than UFC
Animations better than UFC
More unique moves than UFC
More Styles than UFC
More Characters than UFC
Id imagine its very hard to EA not to make the game better at this stage, although im not sure wether it will outsell UFC, the names like Chuck, Brock, Kimbo could see that UFC is the top selling game. Id take gameplay, detail and Graphics over a few big names

It'll be interesting to see what Kimbo's stats are? I doubt UFC will give an honest portrayal

No ones quite sure about EA MMA, could be anytime this year. My guess would be pretty near to Undisputed, which is out in May/June time.

I really can't wait for this game, it looks incredible. The fight night games have been outstanding so far and this could be an improvement on that.
I wonder how much detail they will actually go into the fighters fighting style. They have a huge roster so far but are they going to make them unique? Intresting to see what they do with someone like Minowa.
Roster so far (according to Wiki)
Heavyweight
Fedor Emelianenko
Randy Couture [LH]
Brett Rogers
Hidehiko Yoshida
Jeff Monson
Tim Sylvia
Bas Rutten
Bobby Lashley
Light Heavyweight
Gegard Mousasi
Renato 'Babalu' Sobral
Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal
Vladimir Matyushenko
Middleweight
Frank Shamrock [LH]
Cung Le
Jason "Mayhem" Miller
Robbie Lawler
Scott Smith
Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza
Matt Lindland
Benji Radach
Melvin Manhoef
Welterweight
Jay Hieron
Jake Shields
Nick Thompson
Tim Kennedy
Nick Diaz
Marius Zaromskis
Joe Riggs
Lightweight
Gilbert Melendez
Josh Thomson
Shinya Aoki
Joachim Hansen
Hope they can add to that as well, looks like an incredible roster so far. I still need more whipping boys there though for practice!

Re: New EA screenshots, Monson/Lashley
Theres Far more than that rumored... there was another post for the original rumored lineup, Bas Rutten and other legends etc.. and a lot more non UFC MMA fighters.
EA aparently have a lot more situations for attack, imagine back, side and front grabs, compared to your back and fromt grabs in beatemups... In different situations fighters can do a variety of moves, same for striking someone may have an overhand were someone else may have a superman punch...
This means its not just Styles "Judo/Wrestling/BJJ" Its more like WWE games were each guy will have different moves from different situations... meaning a LOT more variety between characters....

Ken vs Frank can finally be a reality!
thats if they dont screw us with the weightclasses.
Frank should be MW/LHW and Ken should be LHW/HW.

Re: New EA screenshots, Monson/Lashley
EA, which is a very well known company and who makes big sports games, they couldn’t get our license. They were not fans of the UFC, they were not fans of mixed-martial arts–and they decided to change their business plan and became a “me-too” company and create a “me too” fighter. They couldn’t get what they really wanted, so they tried to create a game that would compete with us. We have a lot of respect for them, but there’s nothing in that game that would entice me or anyone I know that’s an MMA fan to buy it. If you want stars, the best organization, the best graphics, you’re going to stick with what you bought last year because this year’s game is even better. And the fact that we didn’t cheat or cut corners in 2010, I think our fans are going to be very happy.

Re: New EA screenshots, Monson/Lashley
Funny reading how they havnt cut corners...
http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/22736/ufc-undisputed-2010/videos/ufc10_inv_022310.html
The punches still dont propperly connect, Its still years behing Fight night... and years behind EA MMA. Look at the two clips... Thats actual ingame footage...
The punches still look like rock em sock em robots... Swick punches Thaigo on the chest etc.. still very outdated collision detection...
Even in EA's short trailer you can see the Huge difference in who the fighters move, Far less robot and far far more realistic....

Even just look at the standing knee Rogers lands to Fedor and watch the ripples and body reaction. Far better than the UFC game from that point of view.
I think both games will be really good though.

Re: New EA screenshots, Monson/Lashley
was optimistic about the screenshots, but the gameplay looks very, very similar to 09.
and oh boy the background music to that video reminded me of the horrible, horribly annoying soundtrack to 09.

Re: New EA screenshots, Monson/Lashley
I struggle to get exited about it, I suppose I just trust EA when making fighting games more than THQ. Just churning out 09, with new fighters and southpaws will not convince me to buy it. On the plus side though, they have got some sort of simple leaning system, much needed I say! In 09 there was no way of avoiding contact without hooping 2 metres back, Starnes style!
