Anthony Johnson finally grows some balls... Empty Anthony Johnson finally grows some balls...

Post  ChelseaQuinsfan Tue Nov 01, 2011 8:14 pm

He moves to 185 and scheduled to fight Belfort at UFC 142.

    - The UFC announced the following bout for the UFC 142 PPV…
A second Brazilian mega-star is set to fight at home at UFC 142. "Verbal agreements in for what should be an explosive matchup as powerhouse Anthony ‘Rumble' Johnson moves up to middleweight to face ‘The Phenom' Vitor Belfort at the event," UFC president Dana White said.

UFC 142 is expected to take place Jan. 14 at Rio de Janeiro's HSBC Arena, and UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo (20-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) is on the card, defending his title against Chad Mendes (11-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC).

Should be a good fight if they stand and bang but I can see Johnson using his wrestling in this fight. I see Belfort KOing Johnson though but finally Johnson mans up and fights at a more natural weight class. It could improve him as a fighter.

Was just about to post this. Although I think Belfort is slightly overrated, he's still top 5. I see him finishing Johnson with a flurry of punches. Fair play to Johnson for making the move.

Although in my opinion, I had nothing against Johnson fighting at 170. If it worked for him and he was winning fights then why not. It's probably got to the point where Johnson's body can't take another weight cut like that.

I don't mind big fighters fighting at smaller weight classes but with Johnson it is just ridiculous. Look at this for example:

Johnson 170? Arvloski 240? You are having a laugh. Pictures like that suggest he should be fighting at 185 as an absolute minimum, he really could fight at 205.

Plus he's missed weight a couple of times and it's wasn't exactly a small margin either. Plus I don't think cutting weight like that is healthy at all.

Jeez guys who can you call Belfort over rated? If anything i'd say hes a fighter that has never really reached his full potential... Belfort is a absoulute banger, I watch him smash Wandi around a cage time and time again at a time when Wandi was unstoppable!

I think he's slightly overrated. If you look at his record it isn't actually that impressive. Still a great fighter don't get me wrong and one of the best middleweights at the minute.

Aside from Wandi and past there best Fraklin and Lindland he hasn't beaten the best competition. Wandi was unstoppable? He was 4-1. He had beaten a bunch of cans, his best win was Van Arsedale! Wandi didn't become unbeatable until after losing to Tito. I would agree he didn't fullfil his potentiol but people seem to rate him on his potential more than what he has actually accomplished. That makes him a tad overrated IMO.

Wandi was 5-1 with his only notable win being over Mike Van Arsdale who was a great wrestler but not a very good fight. Hardly Wandi at his peak.

Vitor is over-rated. Who's he beaten? Couture on a cut and a past it Lindland? Oh and a Rich Franklin that was years past his own over-rated best. Hardly impressive.

belforts record isnt that impressive, he has had a lot of bad fights... but his record is not the reason why people rate him so highly.

just watch him fight and its pretty obvious why people hold him in such a high standing.

Belfort's past few performances have been a huge improvement from his time in Pride. He has looked much better since the move to middle weight.

Still think Johnson will take it though

Because he's a good fighter for the first four minutes but after that he's one of the worst in the sport? Bit like watching Shane Carwin isn't it?

Anthony Johnson finally grows some balls... Ajmaiajj

Jones is only a couple of inches taller than him. If Rumble carried a bit of weight or Bulked up more the guy could be a Heavy never mind a Lhw! Id say he wouldnt look undersized against Cain or Nog for example.

He says 170lbs is his home but seriously look at him in those pics to him on the scales weighing 170.. or however close he gets to the Welterweight limit Laughing

Anthony Johnson finally grows some balls... AnthonyJohnson-219x300

Against Rich Clementi he really fucked up the cut, 177.5 that was at 22, he is 27 now and walks around big between fights. I dont know why he would think 170 is his home.

Im a massive Vitor fan clearly because probabally each and every one of you have told me off for ranking him too highly on the rankings at some point! Laughing But I dont see him winning this.

At 185 Rumble is the bigger man still, Taller, Rangier, Heavier build, Cuts from a higher weight. I reckon Vitors punch power get him by a lot but Rumble chin to power could win in a punch for punch fight.

Kos out wrestled him and he is a 170er but Vitor hastn a hope of being the better wrestler. Plus Vitor isnt a cardio machine. I think with Rumble cutting less weight than normal it will only improve him. Watch Rumble against Reiner or Speer he has the same sort of brutal fight ending power that makes Belfort specail but he is bigger, tougher and can out wrestle him.

    Rumble KO round 2.

He really is a massive man. He could easily fight at HW.

He's a fairly good wrestler but his ground game needs a lot of work. Belfort is not BJJ wizard but I think he has enough skills to tap Johnson. Don't think Johnson can outbox Belfort either.

Hope Vitor catches him early, really enjoy watching Vitor fight and would be gutted if he lost to Rumble.

If Rumble was to win this fight how many wins away from a title fight would he be?

If Rumble wins this he is probabally a win away, I could see him fighting Okami (who I cant see him beating)

Or the Bisping vs Mayhem winner.
