4 people so far backing Gurgel to pick up a sub win.... interesting. Has he said somewhere that he's going to finally take a fight to the ground?

balls to doing Boxing predictions this could get messy... Boxing happens far too often and we arent really keeping track of every fight...

Im probabally one of the bigger boxing fans on here but I think we should stick to MMA (possibly K-1)

I dont see anything wrong with throwing in the odd boxing fight now and again when it coincides with MMA.


I dont really know too much about K-1 actually, so i would like it we did predicition league for that, as it would give me an a reason too get more into K-1.

redmeanie77 get into K-1, an average K-1 fight is more entertaining that an MMA or Boxing fight for me. When they Use a clintch and Knee they can only hold for one strike, Apart from that holding is not allowed at all so with no clintching at all it forces a lot of toe to toe action, Its packed full of KO's and being in a ring with only striking you see more crazy flying kicks as figher dont have to be cautious of hitting the deck (Unless they are fighting Badr Hari )

Id really recomend watching some of Ernesto Hoost's old fights. Heres two Highlights that will probabally get you into K-1. Its a good time to get into it because most of the old legends are in the final years of there peak. Withing the next few years were going to see a lot of them hang up the gloves....

Anyway... This one is poor qualit but it probabally the only HL video ive watched more than Crocops!!!

I'd just finished watching the seventh episode of TUF. After the 1st round in the Mitrione v Junk fight Dana White was shouting about what a great fight the slugfest was. Eh?

Then I watched that Bojasky video and a couple of his fights again... it's not really fair to compare Junk and Mitrione to Bojasky but the gulf in entertainment and skill level is ridiculous.

Back in the day when all these fighters were in their Prime they were fighting guys like Semmy Schilt (Im sure you know him.. he isnt worh a Hl video... just a big Giant Guy.. Alugh he finished someone with a spinning heel kick!

Ray Sefo im sure you know but he is past his prime, heres him back in the day.

I was gunnp post ha HL video but I found a clip of just his punching power!



Have you seen him fight Mark hunt? (Another MMA figher who was fighting in K-1 back then) they literally sick their chins out and let the other unload punches. I think Sefo had the most KO power in his punches in K-1 to date. hunt could obviously bang too and they just took each other punches and fought like only two crazy Islanders can! I cant find a decent quality clip.

Also Crocop was competing back then! It was just superfights all the time! It was like Boxings Golden era with Ali,Frizier,Forman etc.. The only thing is there was huge superstars figthting each other month in month out in K-1 and all you had to do was turn on Eurosport! Damnit!! I miss live K-1

Anyway these oldguard are mostly still about, Some have been replaced by newblood like Badr Hari... He is an absolute Spide.. Or Chav to the English, Kicked Bonjasky when he was down and is just a bit of a cocky headcase! I really like him as a fighter because he did an almost Karate Kid jumping kick on Aerts and he KO'd Schilt with a punch! Overeem KO'd him but I think he could be favorite going into the GP this year.






Mighty Mo has Kind of replaced Hunt as the Token Gian Islander, He is Bigger with more KO power and has KO'd Jan Nortje and Hong Man Choi with an Overhand similar to this... the fights on youtube..



Anyway K-1 has a great History there are fights like Musashi, Stefan Leko, Sam Greco, Michael McDonald, Mike Bernardo, Andy Hug etc. who had absolut wars with each other and all of the above in the good ol days even Martial Arts Legend Branko Cikatić fought in K-1 at the begining, I think he is Crocops Mentor or Hero...

Its History and some of the classics are really worth a watch, but the New figths are every bit as good and Overeem as a fantastic edition to K-1 this years GP is a seriously stacked card.

Havnt seen the latest TUF.. im getting a bit bored of it. Ill skip to the fight just out of curiosity.. But Scott Junk... Its like watching Cage Rage at times... Like I said one of the lowest levels of tallent they have had on the show

Bit off topic here but anyone got videos of todays Vale Tudo event in Japan??? Its not up anywere yet and I was really looking forward to it. There really wasnt a big deal made of it at all.

Can anyone tell me this was it some old Vale Tudo that had 3 cage walls (Possibly a roof) against a concrete wall? I remember seein a fight ages ago were this was the setup...

Ben, you should really be showing the people Ernesto Hoost for them to get the real site of striking perfection. His performances against CroCop were perfection.
