    Boxing Gym Costs

Post  Sly Uses on Mon Feb 28, 2011 3:32 pm

Hi guys, just wondering what is, in your experiences, the average cost of joining a boxing gym? I've been looking for one in Bolton and of the two I have found, the one that has come back to me has said:

1 lesson per week is £43.50 a month
2 lesson per week is £65.00 a month
3 lesson per week is £93.50 a month
each lesson is limited to 6 students

do those seem reasonable to you? For me theyre a bit on the dear side but I figure if that kind of price is the norm I might as well take the plunge now rather than later

It does to me as well. I have a mate who trains boxing, will ask her how much she pays

Those prices are about right, IF you're getting use of the gym outside of those classes as well. If you are then it's a good deal. I'd go for the 3 classes a week mate if you can afford it and have time. 12 classes at about 7.50 per class. Plus use of the gym. Deal. Even without use of the gym it's still reasonable enough IMO. Judo lessons from me will cost you 15 quid per lesson or 120 for 10. Unless you want private lessons. Then it's 30 quid per hour.

yeah it was going to be without access to the gym and because of work etc I could only manage 1 session a week, so idk if that was going to be cost efficient for me but cheers for your words anyway, much appreciated

Good deal! It does all depend on the quality of training you're getting though.

I teach all over mate. But my only regular class is held in west dublin. Used to be weekly but at the minute it's only twice a month because I'm leaving in england at the moment. It's not an open class. Invitation only because I'm a cranky old bastard and new people tend not to like it when I'm rude to them. Each student of mine is allowed to invite one person upon completion of 2 years training with me. No matter what level someone comes to me at, the start at the bottom as a white belt. I train guys from white belt to the point where they are completely prepared to take their grading for black belt but I don't give out black belts. Never have, never will. My guys get prepared for it and then they go to japan to undertake their grading. I've put 17 guys forward, all 17 have passed with ease. Once one of my guys gets their black belt, I don't train them any further. If they want to learn further they go elsewhere. Most of them train in other schools as well as with me anyway so they're already involved in other schools. But they all do their gradings through me. I hold infrequent grappling sessions at my house and they(the black belts) all come to them if they can. We just train together, no teaching, just good old fashioned rolling. Sort of like a college wrestling room. 2 hours, non-stop grappling. Takes days to recover from!

I'm also a sparring partner and technique coach for hire. I train with a lot of guys who are preparing for competition. I worked with the german national team for multiple olympics. Currently working with the italian national team in preparation for london 2012.
