    Tim Sylvia... Empty Tim Sylvia...

    Post  The_Axe_Emperor Mon Dec 13, 2010 3:03 pm

... won again on Saturday, albeit against a bum.

Two-time UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia barely broke a sweat, as he struck journeyman Vince Lucero into first-round submission in the Extreme Challenge 170 main event on Saturday at the Target Center in Minneapolis. Lucero asked out of the fight 2:44 into round one.

Sylvia floored Lucero three times before pouncing on his fallen foe, moving to mount and dropping punches until the tapout came. The 34-year-old has rattled off four consecutive victories, all of them finishes, since his embarrassing nine-second knockout loss to 1988 Olympic boxing gold medalist Ray Mercer in June 2009.

Thats four in a row now, all four wins stoppages.

After how many more wins do you think think the UFC/Strikeforce will snap him up?

Does anyone know what weight Timmeh was for this fight?

It's hard to tell from that video but he still looks huge,300+ lbs,I think if he's serious about going back to the UFC or Strikeforce,he's going to have to start getting his weight back down and get comfortable again at 265lb for these next fights.

I don't think either the UFC or Strikeforce will be tripping over themselves trying to get his signature. I don't think he can become a champion in either org, and while he would bring some depth to the division and can be a decent draw, he isn't exactly a "puts bums in seats" kind of character either.

There are some good fights for him in both orgs, but I don't really see him becoming much more than a gatekeeper. Not the worst signing to make, but the UFC let him go when there HW division had about 3 good fighters.

He would be a lot more useful to a company like Bellator.

Thats not to bad then, but I still think he needs to be seen fighting back at 265 before strikeforce and the UFC show abit more interest.
Looking at that video he looks as big and flabby around the waist as he did in the Pudz fight and I think if I'm right he was 300+ lbs in that fight.

Sylvia is easily a top 15 HW and in top shape with his confidence back he's top 10. He's not a draw though so nobody will rush to sign him.

    Struve
    Chris Tuchscherer

Lads take a look at this list. Would you back Sylvia to beat about 3/4 of them? I would.

I actually even think you stick 6"8 Sylvia in with 5"11 sloppy striking, wobbled with a jab from a fat guy Carwin that he will last a round and KO carwin with Knees or a headkick.

Put Sylvia in with Mr Telegraphed shots Lesnar and he will punch Lesnar in the face and we all know what happens after than...

Sylvia may not be champ in UFC because Cain and JDS will crush him but he would be a contender. I think he might beat Nog in a rematch as well.
    -----------------------------------------

SF he would be fucked in because Fedor, Barnett, Bigfoot, Werdum, Overeem.... there a lot of fighters there who would beat him but I think SF could use him a journey man and a really good one at that. They could test him against the likes of Lavar or SDR... Thing is I dont think SF have any money to sign him because I think they pay through the nose for fighters like Fedor and Hendo and cant afford to bulk out their roster.

I reckon Sylvia would have a decent chance against Werdum, Barnett and Bigfoot especially.

I think Werdum would tap him, he'd beat Barnett if he could keep him on the feet and probably use he reach to outbox Bigfoot to a decision.

I've always thought he'd have as good a chance as anyone against Brock though, i remember we were discussing it before the Cain fight.

He would have a hard job using his reach against Bigfoot who has 2" of reach on him and is a considerabally better boxer Laughing

Timmeh is 5 inches taller than Silva though Ben. And is Silva's boxing really that good? Timmeh's always been a good boxer and he knows how to fight tall.

Silva would box the ears off Timmeh, and easily outgrapple him. Horrible fight for Timmeh.

Barnett would beat Timmeh easily, not sure how that's up for discussion.

Timmeh would beat Werdum? At what? Certainly not at fighting. Werdum would tap him with great ease.

I don't think he'd beat any one mentioned besides maybe Carwin if he survived the first round.

I could see Sylvia beating Big foot and Lesnar though. Kyle, a natural LHW dropped Big Foot and had good success standing up with him. Sylvia would be bigger than him him as well, and could wall n stall him while hitting him with shots. Sylvia's quite hard to get down as well.

He could beat Lesnar. He would have the advantage standing and as has been mentioned, Lesnar's reaction to getting hit is awful. I would pick Lesnar in that fight though, I think he could take him down and donkey Kong him.

Can't see him having any chance against Werdum, Barnett, Cain, JDS or Fedor.
