SRC NYE combat sports festival! - "from morning to evening"

SRC are planning to hold a NYE event at Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo this year. The name of the event isn’t decided yet but it looks like it will not only contain MMA fights but fights from other Kakutougi (Combat Sports) genres. A Kakutougi Festival from morning to evening is planned. DREAM and K-1 are of course holding their own Dynamite!! event and SRC joined them last year but this year it looks like SRC will split and maybe start their own NYE series.

As far as the Kakutougi Festival part, SRC Front Mukai thinks that it would be interesting to have some Mongolian Wrestling for example. He became a fan of the art after trying it himself. This year it might be impossible though. Another genre is Kids Wrestling (probably just a side show where they show some moves, they hold Kids Wrestling classes at the SRC Official Gym).

As far as real fights, besides MMA fights, the potentiality for Kickboxing fights and Women’s MMA fights is big.

They might rent Ariake Colosseum for three days (29th, 30th, and 31st) and the first two days will be for preparations only.

Nothing is set in stone yet but the important part of this “first real details on the SRC NYE event”-article is “Kakutougi from morning to evening”.

....another rumour has surfaced about a possible "U-File vs SRC" MMA series at the event.

for those who dont know U-File is the successful japanese MMA camp ran by Kiyoshi Tamura (i think), their experienced fighters:

i was going to post this in the calendar thread but it wasnt really suitable since there are no actual rumoured fights yet.

but i think its expected to include MMA, kickboxing, wrestling for both men and women.

anyway its interesting that they are going up against Dynamite!!....and good IMO that they are having a different format.

I havent worked out the time zones, but this makes for an epic day of MMA. Cant wait.

SRC15 is in the books and it was a solid event.

An end of the year event was officially announced during the intermission of the event. It will be called “Sengoku Soul Of Fight” and is not part of the SRC event series since it will be a joint event between WVR and the Japanese Wrestling Association (with help from the Japan Martial Arts Association).

From 11 AM to 9 PM on December 30th there will be combat sports at Ariake Colosseum where the event will take place. So there will be different combat sports fights (MMA, stand-up, and grappling) in this “Kakutougi Festival” event. Planned are 25 to 30 pro fights and 8 to 10 of those are planned to be SRC fights.

An exchange (sending fighters to each other) with the Dynamite!! event taking place the day after is not out of the question though as SRC front man Mukai is open to it. They have not begun discussions yet though.

all this mma and of course the football gonna be great sports all day.

Will Enomoto/K-taro and the rest of the BW GP be on the card do you reckon?


Hirota/Blanco for the LW title would be a great fight to have if Hirota can be back in time

If Liu Deli and Asashoryu (sp) got on it would also be epic

I think Hirota vacated his title after the Aoki fight. Not sure where that puts him now but I'd have thought he'd be straight back in the mix.

yup, Hirota vacated during June I think because he couldnt recover from his injuries. Idk if he'll be back by NYE but still..


Also, Kiss Nakao is going to be on the card
