Coker says Nick Diaz will step up to 185lbs to enter...

    1. Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza
    2. Dan Henderson
    3. Nick Diaz
    4. Robbie Lawler
    5. Jason "Mayhem" Miller
    6. Tim Kennedy
    7. Winner of Cung Le vs Scott Smith (Next Strikeforce)
    8. Winner of Jorge Santiago vs Kazuo Misaki (Next Sengoku)

Shame Manhoef never got into it, I love watching him. Cung battered Smith and got a rematch after 1 punch was the equaliser but Lawler vs Manhoef was more 1 sided and we dont hear about Manhoef getting a rematch.

Anyway good lineup. Diaz vs Hendo is the fight I most want to see.

Manhoef might already be booked for the dates though.

So we can now say that Shields is UFC bound? Dana will be happy but he'll have overpaid massively for him.

I want Miller vs Diaz in the first round. I think that's a fight that has to happen.

Hendo vs Jacare in the final i think, unless they meet beforehand.

I think Hendo is on the slide big time, he would be better to go back up to 205 and be undersized the cut to 185 is taking its toll on his gas tank, he puffs so easily these days.

    Hendo/Jacare gotta be favorites allright.

Would live to see Lawler vs Hendo in the 1st round.

So whats Babalus plan now! I say he should rematch Mousasi? Or try and replace the Sengoku winner and cut to 185

I think Babalu could easily make 185 and i think he'd be very good there.

I wouldn't write Hendo off just yet. I think he's got one more run in him.

He looked totally out of Ideas agaisnt Shields, but I suppose there isnt another Wrestler Shield's standard in that bunch. You put Hendo as favorite to win the whole thing.

I wouldnt have thought twice about picking Jacare before his last figth but he looked shite. Babalu would have a great chance of winning too unless the extra 8lbs killed him.... Id far rather him that Santiago who is shit really, he got ranked top 10ish by beating bums, in UFC Leben Sparked him because he was throwing a punch with his eyes closed! Laughing

yeah i don't really rate Santiago either to be honest.

I think Hendo's back gave him major problems against Shields, and the lay-off hurt him as well.

He has gassing bad agasint Rich in Dublin as well. I hope Shields clears off because there are some great fights with him gone, most of which involving Hendo. As long as I see Hendo vs Any of Jacare/Diaz/Cung Le ill be happy, Id even be entertained to see him vs Lawler thought I feel Lawler is kind of a poor mans Hendo.

Apparantley a lot of people gassed in Ireland, I heard Palhares passed out back stage. Plus Rich was putting on insane pace on that fight, most people would have gassed.

Hendo's cardio has never been great, but it shouldn't be too bad.

Jacare and Hendo are instantly favourites, but im intrested to see how Kennedy does. Diaz and Miller have to fight as well after what happened in Nashville. It will also be intresting to see Diaz at MW and how he copes with bigger guys.

Hope Smith sparks Le again, I love watching him fight but I think Le would probably provide a more competitive threat to the others.

Hendo vs Jacare is intresting, I think Jacare can take Hendo down and submit but if he can't, chances are he is fucked. He is becoming a good striker because of training with BH but he has a poor chin and Hendo has some of the most powerful punches, at MW. Jacare isn't Koing Hendo either is he.

And Santiago is nothing special, average really.

He was KOed by Leben and a very young Belcher during his run with the UFC.

"Poor" is lazy writing by me to be fair, what I meant to say its not great. KOed twice and he has been rocked a few times as well, I think it was Miller who rocked him.

To be fair, he was Ko'd with an upkick where his entire bodyweight fell into Mousasi's foot. Never seen the first one. But he's taken some big shots and worked through them. I see what you mean though, it's not Cote's chin or Hendo's chin.

better line up than the dream gp?

    That had
    Mousasi
    Jacare
    Manhoef
    Mayhem
    Sakuraba
    Funaki
    Tamura
    Kang
    Minowaman
    Dong sik yoon
    Shibata
    Nakahara
    Galesic
    And more

Not for me, but the best tournament lineup america has seen in my memory.

If Fedor hadn't gotten hurt the GP that CroCop won would have been for my money.

I'm really surprised they don't get Minowa and one or two others for this tournament.

It's certainly the best tournament on America soil in 10 years though.

    IMO the one Shogun one.

    Shogun
    Wandy
    Lil Nog
    Arona
    Overeem
    Rampage
    Randleman
    Nakamura
    Lister
    Igor
    Kondo
    Belfort
    Hendo
    Sakuraba
    Yoshida

Holy shit, what a lineup. Most stacked tourtument ever. Only dissaspointing thing about this was Wandy vs Arona, simply because Wandy didn't want to fight Shogun.

Actually, that tournament wins hands down. Although, according to certain people, Pride wasn't a patch on the UFC at LHW in those days! haha!

There was only one fighter who could be considered a can in that torutument, Dong-something. Apparantley though he was a world class Judoka and won a few gold medals in some tourtuments. Probably could have been a half decent fighter but his first fight was against Sakuraba and he was out of his depth.

This was a fucking immense tourtument and its such a shame we don't see more of this. Dream try, but they can never pull of anything like this. The UFC could potentiolly but they aren't intrested in this kind of format which is a real shame.

Thats another reason im pro co-promotion as well, imagine a LW or HW tourtument like that. I can only dream.

Well that can't be a pop at me can it Twisted Evil
Since I said Pride was stronger at that time and if I remember correctly i said something along the lines of the UFC was stronger for about 6 out of the 8 years and not that time.

So you've either made some more of your usual bullshit up or you must be on about someone else on another site or somewhere, which i must then apologize for,for being slightly paranoid
    Wink

But besides that, without a shadow of doubt that was the strongest tourney line up ever.

Dong Sik Yoon is a decent fighter!
He was thrown in at the deep end (of the crocodile and shark infested tank of pride mw division circa 2005) and had to learn how to fight mma whilst in ring with the likes of rampage!!

He has wins over manhoef, galesic and tarec saffedeine so he is not all bad.

Ye he actually has some good wins on his record but it is losing. I just think he was the only one really out of depth but then again, most people assumed Shogun would have no chance either.

Yeah thats the biggest tournament in MMA history Id say without a doubt. Man I love tournaments. I dont see how it would be bad for UFC to have a tournament or 2 once a year? Maby in stale weight devisions? Maby at catchweights to mix up the weight classes and give us new fights?

    Hendo said...

“I don’t know if I even want to fight 185 for a while. I’d probably rather not cut weight. There’s lots of tough guys to fight at 205 right now.”

Good call, Ive been saying Hendo needs to stay at 205 so he doesnt gas so easily. I think he can be 205 champ. I say he should go after Babalu or Mousasi and if he wins he gets a shot at Mo.

People are all writing Hendo off these days but he was a punch or 2 away from ending Shields' night in the 1st.

Hendo vs Mousasi and Hendo vs Babalu are two great fights.

I think Babalu would beat him pretty easily by doing what Shields did.
