Re: Anyone watching the WEC tonight?
You didnt buy it?
I dont think it will do great PPV buys to be frank, which is a shame because i think the fights will be exciting and is worth the $$ compared to the latest UFC cards.

Re: Anyone watching the WEC tonight?
Thanks for that mate I'll give it a try.
I'm more than tempted to still buy it,but shit money is tight enough at the mo,so I thought I'd give streaming it a go.
I've got my Nottingham boy Froch to watch against Kessler as well.

Re: Anyone watching the WEC tonight?
WOW,that was a brilliant fight to watch.
I personally thought Garcia just took it but it was definitely one of those fights where there was no loser, two tough little fuckers.
first time I've seen the Korean Zombie fight, definitely impressed me and I look forward to seeing him fight again.
Some shocking technique and some crazy wild punches(mostly from Garcia) but a thoroughly enjoyable fight from start to finish, proper balls to the wall stuff.

Re: Anyone watching the WEC tonight?
LMAO , Dana is such a narcisit. Bet he made sure he got a shot with Shields this weekend.
Great fights last night, Aldo is just too damn good. I hope a move to 155 lies in his future. But will probably fight Manny next who impressively took out Brown. Too bad we didnt get a war in the Bendo-Cerrone fight but was still a good fight.
I still havent seen the Garcia-Zombie fight but i heard it was FOTY worthy.
PS- My 2000th comment

Re: Anyone watching the WEC tonight?
just saw a brilliant fight followed by the biggest piece of bullshit judging i have ever seen.
it wasnt even close, Jung clearly won all three rounds in my opinion, the last one was fairly close but i still think jung won it.
result spoiled the fight a little bit.

Re: Anyone watching the WEC tonight?
Wonderful, wonderful match by Garcia and the Korean Zombie, excellent fight. Unfortuantley it was terrible judging, I had Jung winning rounds 1 and 3 with round 2 a draw (although if anyone win that round it would be Garcia) but still a terrific fight. Easily the best fight this year and its going to take some to be beaten at all. Probably better than Sanchez vs Guida, Cerrone vs Henderson and Thompson vs Melendez last year. Its funny because sometimes the technically worse fights are the most exciting.
Bless Garcia, he isn't the best fighter by anyone's book but he always puts on excellent matches.

Re: Anyone watching the WEC tonight?
I think zombie easily won the first,Garcia edged out the second and won the third,in the third Zombie was taking to long to recoup some energy in between attacks to win that rd,Garcia was scoring all through that rd and zombie was only scoring in short bursts.
I think it was the correct decision but the Korean zombie has definitely made a fan out of me.

Re: Anyone watching the WEC tonight?
Same here, I've become quite a Zombie fan. Just loved his 'style', lived up to his nickname excellently! Think we'll be seeing a rematch some time in the future...
Fell asleep before Aldo v Faber, but heard it was all a bit one sided. Check that out later.
Pickett was good once again, went to town on the takedowns. ATT for you... be interesting to see who the WEC will give him next.
All in all, a cracking card, loads of earlier matches shown on the prelimanary and main card, only one fight wasn't broadcast!

Re: Anyone watching the WEC tonight?
Jung vs Garcia was nuts. It was a total robbery though. The term "robbery" is vastly over-used these days but it applies here. And this isn't even the first time Jung has been wtfucked by the judges, he should have beaten Kanehara too. He's a great fighter though, been a fan since his fight with Ishiwatari.

Re: Anyone watching the WEC tonight?
I watched the fight again earlier and I still can't see how people say that decision was a robbery, the fight could of gone either way, that I'd agree with but in no way was that a robbery.
Zombie won an easy first rd no doubt but that was only a 10-9 rd.
The second rd was really close but I personally thought Garcia did just enough to win it connecting with the better shots and put himself back in the fight but I could see how maybe some would give it to Zombie, especially when garcia let him have a flurry of scoring punches while smiling at him, like I said an extremely close rd.
The last rd Garcia landed more punches and kicks throughout no doubt about it.
(oh shit I forgot kicks don't score in MMA do they Cecil )
So for me the 1st and last rd were straight forward to score and it was just the 2nd rd that I think could of gone either way.

Re: Anyone watching the WEC tonight?
well the fightmetric says that Jung outstruck Garcia...
and it doesnt take into account that he had Garcia in much more trouble in the first 2 rounds, and that he was backing Garcia up the entire time, being more aggressive and using "octagon control".
as much as i hate it as a criteria, "octagon control" was 100% Jung.

Re: Anyone watching the WEC tonight?
Those stats basicly still go along with how I scored it but I thought Garcia may have just slightly outstruck him in the 2nd,turns out zombie slightly edged it according to them stats.
Scoring it as an overall match then Zombie would have won because of the amount he landed in the first but rd for rd it was like I said,Zombie won the 1st,Garcia won the last and the 2nd rd was very close.
so I just can't see how it could be classed as a robbery,it was a really close fight.

Re: Anyone watching the WEC tonight?
In what came as a surprise during the WEC 48, former featherweight champ Mike Brown suffered a first round loss to Manny Gamburyan that took the wind of out of hopes of getting back at the title but Dana White explains some underlying causes that may have played a role in the poor performance:
"I hate talking about this kind of stuff because I don't like taking anything away from Manny Gamburyan who went in there and knocked him out tonight and looked great doing it. But before the fight started, I was sitting next to Jake Shields and Mark DellaGrotte and both guys said to me '(Brown) might lose tonight.' He's got a lot of personal problems, his girlfriend broke up with him, he skipped camp for like 14 days. He's got some personal problems that he's dealing with right now and this isn't basketball or baseball where you lose and say 'Ah, we still got 130 games left so it's all good.' In fighting you're only as good as your last fight and you have to be physically, mentally and emotionally ready every time you go in there and I don't think that was the case with him tonight. I think he's one of the best in the world, I think he's got some personal problems right now but I'm sure he'll be back as soon as he sorts them out." Props: Versus

Re: Anyone watching the WEC tonight?
I think the judges got it wrong. I dont think i would call it biggest robbery ever, it kinda was close(ish). But for me Jung won more rounds and won if you were taking it as a fight as a whole...
The Zombie's record may say he lost but in reality his stock has gone up alot after this weekend (as does Garcia). This is being likened to the Forrset-Bonnar fight, it was live on spike. And would have appealed to alot of casual fans.
I know that Dana was pleased with it in post fight press conference.

Re: Anyone watching the WEC tonight?
It really bugs me when people say i dont want to take anything away from [X], but [Y] had a injury/Staph infection/Personal problems/Cracked skull whatever....
Usually its [Y] biggest win of his career, and when people in high places (Dana) come out and say this, then it does take away from the win, even if you say you dont want to take away from the win...
I can understand fans on forums making excuses for their favourite fighters, sure thats ok. But for promoters or fighters to do it..... Just wrong i feel.

Faber's leg after the Aldo beatdown. What was it that Cecil Peoples say about leg kicks?
