Quickest MMA submissions.

I know about some of the fastest MMA KOs, KID with a flying knee, and Tod duffee at ufc 102.
But i saw Fedor/Timmeh again today and i was wondering what some of the fastest submission victories (from a hold i.e. Coleman/Fujita doesn't count)

some of the top of my head; (then looked up to find the details)

Fedor RNC on Sylvia at 0.36 of round one.
Mir shoulder lock on Williams at 0.46 of round one.
Mir toe hold on Tank at ...... 0.46 of round one.
Mir armbar on Sylvia at 0.50 of round one.
Arlovski achilles lock on guess who at 0.47 of round one.
(it was timmeh again)
Royce on Ken at 0.57 of round 1.

conclusion; Mir is good at these, Timmeh is shit.

Any faster than Fedor? or any more good ones under a minute?

Minowaman subbed Stephan Leko by heel hook in 27 secs at Pride Shockwave 2004

The Mullet was even quicker a couple of years later, subbing Hyun Gab Park at a DEEP event in 2006 the same way in an incredible 17 seconds!!!!

I only know about these because Ben's article on the mulleted marvel got me reading up on him!!!

The early UFC's have quite a lot of them, probably due to the different (and poor in most cases) skill sets of the fighters back then. I have listed some of the more impressive below

UFC 2 was quite eventful - Patrick Smith got to the final of the tournament with a 58 second guillotine, a 30 second KO in the QF, and a 45 second guillotine in the SF before losing to Royce. The guy he knocked out in the QF, Scott Morris, had won his opening fight with a 20 second guillotine

In UFC 4, Joe Charles won by armbar in 14 seconds.

Oleg Taktarov beat Anthony Macias by guillotine in 12 seconds in the UFC 6 semi final - I don't know if they would come much quicker than that!!!

Couldn't find too many in Pride, probably because they have had more skillful fighters right from their inception - Inoue subbed somone in Pride 5 in 24 seconds I think....

I would be interested in finding out some more, especially involving prominent fighters.

I think I'm right in saying Shane Carwin has a couple of sub-30secs submission wins from his earlier days?

Also, in Big Nog's first ever pro fight I think he put an armbar or something on the guy basically before the clock had even started...

Haha poor Timmeh. I do feel bad for him, he is hated by the casual fans, the internet warriors and more importantly the real MMA fans. What a joke, I don't think there has ever been a more unpopular UFC champion-EVER.

Another quick sub you can add to the list is Joe "Daddy" Stevenson vs Gulliard, Daddy won by sub (gulliotine) in 27 seconds at FN 9

Joe has a great guillotine, he slaps this on lighting quick.

Ye has brilliant Guillotines, he did the same to Tibau and Mishma. Joe is such a nice guy, Melvin was such a dick to him before and during the fight. Before Joe began his celebration he checked on Melvin and told him to keep his chin up.

The ultimate in quick submissions. Rumina Sato is the man.
