First BJJ Fight this weekend

I started BJJ about a month ago and have my first fight on Sunday. I just got my 1st stripe today so it's giving me a bit of confidence going into it!

I've done a bit of boxing previously (only sparring - never got to actual fighting as needed an op to sort my eyesight out which I've now had), so I'm not really nervous about it, looking more forward to it.

Any tips?

It's the Welsh Open in Cardiff, should be a good comp.

Really debated about entering or not and thought my as well go for it, get the experience of competing.

Good Luck mate, I won a few grappling matches wrenching people into a Triangle.. it was at a very low level so not everyone saw it coming! Just stay calm youll do better! Hope it goes well for you.

Ended up taking the bronze medal.

I'm really landed with this, as only been training for 4-5 weeks and was my first comp but in a strange way I'm also kind of disappointed. I suppose that's the ridicolous standards I set myself though! ha ha!

Competed in adult white belt -88.3kg

There was 9 people in my weight cat, so happy with bronze after just a month of training! Had to fight off for bronze too, was not awarded to both losing semi-finalists!

Next comp I will try to cut too middle weight as was 84kg on the day, so was a bit lighter than everyone else.
