My quick thoughts on the fights

lovely punch and UFC WW debut for Noke, though I did think big Dan was a little quick and out of position to stop it,no doubt charlie was hurt and in trouble though.

Nice counter to watsons superman punch by Gagnon though before hand,I thought he might of needed his corner stool to actually reach watsons chin, also impressed with the way he took his time with the choke, readjusting his grip untill he could sink it in.

Thorensen looked the crisper fighter of the two,but that was an absolutely beautiful counter left hook that Seth landed to spark him out, should of got KOTN IMO.

Brimage fought a smart fight against Hettes, kept the fight mostly where he wanted it,apart from the 2nd rd when Hettes got him and landed the cleaner, harder punches.
Hettes kept on the front foot, chasing Brimage down, but just couldn't get a hold of him in the first or third.

I thought Pierson was done when Benoist caught him in the third rd and made him do the Stanky leg dance and then started landing the GNP,ref was bloody close to stopping it I thought.
But he did enough in the first 2 rds to deserve the decision.

Grant vs Dunham was brilliant to watch, thoroughly enjoyed that fight, without a doubt FOTN.
I actually thought Dunham was going to get the decision,Grants striking looked great, his combos were tight and thoughs knees that split Dunham's forehead open were lovely, but i thought Dunham also landed his fair share of clean strikes and with the takedowns,i thought that might of edged it for him.
but still a great fight and I look forward to seeing both back in action.

Vinny's armbar was beautiful, maybe should of earned him the SOTN award.

I don't know what happened to Oliveira,it was a good punch from Cub,but the reaction just seemed weird,it was like a kid in a school yard getting hit and thinking, fuck,I want no more of that,i give up.
his legs were still there,it just seemed like the pain of the punch was to much for him,i might be being abit harsh, but it's not the reaction i'm used to seeing from pro fighters.

nothing at all positive to say about Hammills comeback fight against Hollett.

Bisping looked good again, good MMA wrestling, good movement and clean striking,Stann also did his part in making this an entertaining fight.
Bisping has a top 10 fighter in his win column now.

Disappointed in the little guys,as i was expecting so much more from them, but sometimes two styles don't mix well and don't equal out into a great fight, both fighters are certainly great fighters.

JJ dominated 99% of the fight like most thought he would, but that was a hell of a scare for him when Vitor grabbed that arm.
Showed a champions spirit to battle through it though, completely opposite to what you'd believe about him if you went off, what you read about him on message boards Wink

For me, that was Bispings best performance so far, and certainly (IMO) puts him top10. I'm never going to be his greatest fan, but, since the fight against Wandy, he's shown steady improvement and no-one can dispute, that he's put in a few good performances now.

Jones won, as he should, against an ageing and undersized guy like Vitor. Pity that it wasn't Sonnen that he was fighting at short notice, but hey ho.

First thing is that what a weird performance by Vitor, im reading he had a broken hand and if he had then I understand why he threw headkicks against 6"4 jones insted of punching and flopped into guard so often.

Vitors chance to win was to come forward and blitz Jones with strikes like Machida did, and he has done so well in the past.

He bearly let his hands go all night so if his hand was broken ive a tonne of respect for him.

If it wasnt he is another fighter lacking heard like Shogun and Rampage who IMO just accepted defeat and didnt try for the win when they felt overmatched. I really want to know if the hand was broken.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Bisping picks up a ranked win! Wow! Good performance, he isnt great to watch, Mizing pitter patter strikes with Takedowns for the sake of point scoring. I see him becoming much less of a fight finisher with Wrestling in the Mix but no denying he is getting the job done.

Weidman and him should fight asap if he isnt injured. I dont want him to get the title shot off the back of Stann. Although its a good win, Wand didnt want any part of Stann so credit where credit is due.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Look forward to seeing who Vinny is up against next. So glad he beat Igor, I think he will be a contender at 205 for sure. Maby a fight with Lil Nog next to see how that standup is against someone with good TDD.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Cub Swanson on track for another crack at Aldo! I love that guy, there isnt anything special about him but he throws leather and goes for the kill, Hioki would make sence for him maby? Weird KO, delayed reaction or just a guy looking a way out?

Pokrajac has just made himself sound like a right butthurt dickhead in losing.

    Igor Pokrajac UFC @igorpokrajac
If I wanted to do a grappling match I would go on a grappling tournament , this is MMA and UFC fans want a fight # UFC 152

If i just wanted to watch someone only punch,I'd watch boxing,If I wanted to just see punches and kicks, then I watch kickboxing, grappling, wrestling etc, this is Mixed martial arts you twat,as a UFC fan,I want to see fighters that are versed in all aspects of the game and if they happen to be really good at one aspect of the sport, like vinny's BJJ game, then i'm more than happy to watch him show off his skills there.

plus not only was it Pokrajac that went for the takedown, according to fightmetrics,Vinny also out struck him. Rolling Eyes

Jones looked good beating up a man who's much smaller than him and is years past his best(and only got the shot because Jones was scared to fight Sonnen). All praise to the champ.

Just lost any ounce of respect that I had for Pokrajac. What a ridiculous comment to make.

I love Captain Hindsight ! Laughing

I think the best way to sum the event was excellent under card and a very mediocre Main.

Credit to Vitor for sticking there as long as he did It might be just me but It looked like Vitor just give up in the 4th basically giving Jones side control, The crucifix then the Americana.

The Co main I found very dull Mighty Mouse is going to be very hard to sell as a Champion, MM potentially could be the Johnny Nelson of MMA. Very Happy

Bisping looked good and kept up a high level pace on course to his first ever Top 10 (Big congrats Mikey) I was really disappointed in Stann he looked so slow and predictable.

Dunham v Grant was a great fight although I found 30-27 Grant baffling to say the least, Also Vinny IMO got robbed of the SOTN.

agree with Ben, it was a weird performance by Vitor. Not used to seeing him jump guard so often.

He said he heard a pop so he let go of the armbar, if thats true then wow...what a costly mistake!!

im not a jones fan by any means, in fact i dont like the guy but i definitley didnt think he was going to let go of the title easily... so im not surprised he toughed it out.

    Brian Stann:
“[I'm] disappointed obviously. Dana came back after the fight and told me he thought I won the fight. Of course I am going to be biased, I was in there and I thought I won. I have to take an analytical view. I knew it was going to be close, but I thought I won the fight. I think I could still fight the good contenders, I don’t think I go back to fighting the up and comers. I think if I get two big wins in a row, I can get right back to a fight that means something. There are a lot of us to who have gotten there, fall down and then come back. That is what I have to do. – Via MMA Torch“

If Dana White thinks Stann beat Bisping, he should never buy a PPV again. He doesn't need his own money.

UFC fighters have won by punching Thin Air before, Diego Sanchez winning against Kampmann or Garcia beating Zombie... maby Stann though he got one of those wins... because apart from the shot that rocked Bisping he spent the figth punching thin Air. Bisping won that 29-28 for sure and only lost 1 round because of being rocked.

Stann is a knob. He needs to watch the fight again. Put him against Wanderlei next I say.
