UFC 139 Main Event: Dan Henderson VS Shogun Rua

So Dan Henderson makes his return to the UFC on November 19th when he takes on Shogun Rua. From what I understand, this was the initial plan for the 139 main event, then UFC wanted to make Silva-Henderson early next year when Silva is injury free, and they had planned on having Belfort VS Cung Le as the main event, but due to that idea being met with a majority of heat, they have gone back to their original idea, and it was the right thing to do. This is a great match up, i'm torn on who I think will win, both men have the tools to trouble the other, but i'm going to stick my neck on the line and say we'll see a Henderson victory.

I'm also picking Hendo in this one. TKO round 2.
Will this be 5 rounds? When does that come into play?
Winner gets a title shot...? Or winner fights Evans in a No. 1 contender fight?

I'm going Hendo. It's too unpredictable what type of shape Shogun comes in at.

I'd say the logical fight if Evans is next in line would be
Winner of Shogun-Hendo vs winner of Machida-Davis (is this fight still happening?!)

Could be an interesting fight, so much depends on what shape Shogun is fight night. I'm edging towards a Henderson Stoppage, purely because no-one knows which Shogun will turn up.

Hendo's never been KO'd and has faced far harder hitters than Shogun, but you think is going to KO him? Not a hope.
Hendo by KO whenever he fucking feels like it.

Lol at people acting as if you need a KTFO to get a stoppage in MMA. Both guys have what it takes to get a STOPPAGE against the other. Shogun has incredibly heavy hands, his (t)ko ratio is just phenominal for a guy as high up in rankings as he is, and who has fought the level of opponents he has.
Hendo hits hard aswell ofcourse, but i really do see Shogun being much more technical composed striker, and factor in legs kicks aswell...... My money is on Shogun.
BJ - Diaz
GSP - Condit
Frankie - Maynard
Cain - JDS
Brock - Reem
Mir - Nog
Shogun - Hendo
Please pray nothing happen to these fights!!! My heart cant take if any of these fight get called off or changed

When I say KO, I mean the ref steps in with Hendos head bouncing off the canvas. I don't think he's going to get one punch KOed.

Anfield used the "fully fit bull shit" as you called it when Shogun fought Jones, so I just thought it was funny that you said he is spot on then said a point that he has used is bullshit
Also, nobody will be making excuses for JDS because first of all, he is going to win, and second of all, he hasn't been injured or inactive or anything like that for an excuse to be used.
I think you'll be the one needing the injury and inactive excuse for Cain when he loses to JDS.

Dan Henderson has just beaten Fedor, in my eyes he can beat ANYONE HA HA HA! Shogun will have to bring his kicking game to beat Hendo simple as that and keep is chin out of range! A couple of names in Hendos win list and it will put him greatest of all time in my eyes! I'd like to see him fight anderson at light heavy thing it would be more interesting than a middle weight bout.
On the Cain vs JDS think I seriously have no idea who is going to win that one, both are so different in styles!

Great fight, 2 of the all time greats coming off impressive victories.
Hendo is a bad matchup for a lot of fighters with his world-class wrestling skills, granite chin and those H-Bombs.
I'm torn on this one too though, Shogun has proved when he is on his game he is as dangerous as anyone at light-heavyweight.
I think I'm gona go with Hendo based on his momentum at the moment and that chin of his.
WAR HENDO!

Totally agree with what Raiden said. Although this is a very hard one to pick. IMO it's all about which Shogun turns up.
Shogun that lost to Jones = LOSS
Shogun that beat Machida and Forrest = very CLOSE to call
At the minute im taking Hendo, but my opinion may change.

Favour Shogun. He's a better striker. Even though Henderson can score takedowns he's not an overwhelmingly effective top position grappler who's really going to really wear Shogun down the way Jones did, so I'm inclined to think Henderson wouldn't go for takedowns on Shogun anyway. However Shogun is more than capable of taking Henderson down, and he has a legitimate top/guard passing game.
Lol at people bleeting about "injured Shogun". How many times have we heard about injured Henderson after the Shields fight.

That was gassed due to weight cut Henderson (like unfit Shogun, this is a totally legitimate excuse by me)
