Tuf 14 sonnen v bisping Empty Tuf 14 sonnen v bisping

    Post  2brutal Sun Apr 03, 2011 7:52 pm

The war of words between UFC middleweights Michael Bisping and Chael Sonnen may be coming to a head.

The UFC and Spike TV are reportedly planning on featuring the two outspoken and controversial fighters as coaches for The Ultimate Fighter 14, which is expected to debut in September.

Dave Meltzer reports that the plan would include a pay-per-view fight between the two in December with the winner receiving a middleweight title shot sometime in 2012.

The two fighters have recently gone on record claiming they would greatly appreciate the opportunity to fight each other.

Sonnen (25-11-1) called out Bisping (21-3) following Bisping’s controversial win over Jorge Rivera at UFC 127 in February in which the Brit spit towards Rivera’s cornermen following the bout. Subsequently, Bisping stated that he would welcome a fight with Sonnen because he is “an amazing fighter”.

Meltzer reports that several obstacles must be passed before Sonnen can return to the UFC, including his impending sentencing hearing for mortgage fraud on April 8 where it’s expected that the former number one contender will receive two years probation and a $10,000 fine. He will also be forced to forfeit his real estate license.

Sonnen will also need to reapply for his fight license after being suspended for a positive drug test from his August loss to middleweight champ Anderson Silva.

A private meeting was held several weeks ago, according to Meltzer, between UFC President Dana White, CEO Lorenzo Fertitta, Sonnen and the Nevada State Athletic Commission in order to try and smooth over the situation regarding Sonnen’s license. Sonnen claimed that he had a conversation with NSAC executive director Keith Kizer about the approval of utilizing testosterone during his hearing before the California State Athletic Commission, a claim that Kizer vehemently denied.

When asked by Kizer why he lied, Sonnen stated that “he didn’t mean to imply that he directly talked with (Kizer), but that his manager, Matt Lindland, had gone over his need for medical use of testosterone (with Kizer)”.

Bisping may face his own issues in getting licensed in Nevada for his actions during and after the Rivera bout and already had a significant post-fight bonuses withheld by the UFC as punishment for his actions.

Sonnen-Bisping will be badly needed to make up for the borefest of Lesnar-JDS which is nothing more than a battle of no personality vs no english. Hilarious to see Bisping once again being put in a number 1 contenders match without earning it. He should have to earn that position by beating a top 10 fighter for the first time in his career.

I can't see many people wanting to be on Bispings team the guy has to be the most hated man in MMA at the moment. Bisping wouldn't be able to contain his emotions once Sonnen started bashing him.

He's not funny. He's a dickhead. I've met him, I've worked out in the same gym as him, I've seen how he treats others away from the camera and everyone has seen how he treats people in front of the camera. Dick. Head.

Chael Sonnen may end up being a coach on "The Ultimate Fighter 14," but as of now, it's not looking likely.

UFC president Dana White today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) no decisions have been made about the head-coaching slots for the show, which debuts in September on Spike TV.

But White also said Sonnen "has a ton of problems" to deal with, which makes a rumored "TUF 14" coaching slot against Michael Bisping unlikely.

The "Wrestling Observer" recently reported that UFC officials have explored the possibility of the polarizing Sonnen and Bisping as coaches for the upcoming season, which is the first to feature bantamweight and featherweight fighters. Production begins this summer.

However, due to his failed drug test at UFC 117 (due to elevated testosterone levels), Sonnen recently concluded a six-month suspension he received from the California State Athletic Commission. However, he still has a sentencing date after pleading guilty to a federal money-laundering charge as part of a 2006 real-estate deal. (At Friday's upcoming sentencing hearing, he's expected to receive two years of probation, a $10,000 fine and the revocation of his real-estate license.)

Sonnen also would need to deal with the Nevada State Athletic Commission and get re-licensed before he could coach on "TUF." During his CSAC hearing back in December, Sonnen claimed that NSAC executive director Keith Kizer was aware of and approved the fighter's past testosterone-replacement therapy (TRT) during his fights in the state. Sonnen said the same therapy caused his failed CSAC test.

Kizer has denied those claims and said he's never spoken to Sonnen about TRT. (Kizer wasn't available for comment when contacted today by MMAjunkie.com.)

UFC officials ultimately "froze" Sonnen's contract in the wake of the real-estate charges, and the fighter has turned down most interview requests since news broke.

White admits the NSAC issue could be a problem for any coaching plans. He confirmed he recently met with Kizer to discuss Sonnen's situation but didn't divulge details of the outcome.

As of now, though, White said no decisions have been made about the coaching slots.

"We have no clue who will coach; Chael has a ton of problems (right now)," White said.

Im sure once his trial is done, and he gets a fine, UFC will bring him back ASAP. His suspension is up anyway, and there is nothing Kizer can do about it, they have to renew Sonnen's license.

Exactly. And his suspension was given by California. Nevada has to reinstate him.

    The UFC needs Sonnen back.

Chael Sonnen defeated Michael Bisping via KO (trashtalk) at 0:00 of round 1.

Easy peasy for Sonnen, in both the pre match trash talking and the fighting. Oh AND the coaching.
