Matthias Schuck is very good, apologies if he's been mentioned before. 5-0 and he's fighting again on the 9th, probably the best German LHW imo. Fighting vs 6-0 Jonas Billstein

Re: Prospect Thread
saw this when lurking on sherdog:
''Hi Guys,
I wanted to share with you the name of a new heavyweight that you will be hearing a lot about in the upcoming years, Mijaín López, his long awaited dream of defecting to the United States and transitioning into mma has finally become a reality. Mijain is the 2008 Olimpic Gold Medalist 120 kg in Greco Roman Wrestling for Cuba and a highly decorated wrestler, he is a young men at only 28 years old, and has been a huge fan of mma for many years now. It was no secret for his close friends in the Cuban sports circle that his dream was to one day compete in mma, for the past two years he had been training boxing in Cuba with the National team, trying to pick up as many skills as possible.
It was a surprice to me as a fellow Cuban when i was contacted thru friends and introduced to Mijain, he is a monster of a men at around 270 pounds, and i have never seen an athlete of his size with his movement, we are already training full time at my facility, and we have arranged with American Top Team for him to train part time at their facility as well.
We are anticipating his mma debute to take place sometime in the first half of 2011, mma is a very complicated sport with many aspects to it, and we want Mijain to make his debute as prepared as possible. This weekend we had several mma heavyweights that make the trip from time to time here to train with the Pro boxers and kickboxers at the Gym, they had no words for the potential of Mijain.
We at Young Tigers and the local mma community is extremely excited and we hope that you look foward to the debute of this monster as well.
Take care guys and hope you see Mijain fight soon. ''
From the guy that trains Lombard. Mijain is a Taekwondo black belt too.

Re: Prospect Thread
Thanks for the mention of Schtuck and I read about this Mijian Lopez guy in the same thread! That guy definitely sounds interesting, especially seeing how he's been training his boxing for two years, very exciting potential there. Obviously, a lot of variables like cardio, durability, but this guy could make some waves on his size and wrestling skills alone.

So it turns out Magomed Shikshabekov lost to Che Mills a few days ago. Apparently it was a really close fight and an over time round was called for to decide it.

It wasn't close at all mate, the first round could have gone either way (I still gave it to Mills), and there was no question 2 and 3 should've went to Mills, however Shikshabekov got a gift and luckily Mills also won the overtime round and justice was served.

Thanks for that. Mills probably remains a pretty good prospect in his own right, but he didn't make weight apparently while Magomed has always been a tiny welterweight. Hope he drops down after this.

Apologies if he's already been mentioned, but, how about Erik Larkin fighting at 155lb and recently signed to Bellator. Record 3-0,all of them inside the 1st. Was an outstanding Amateur wrestler (4 times NCAA div 1 All American and a national champion in 2003)fighting out of The Den in Scottsdale, Arizona (home of Ben Askren).

He's flown under the radar a bit because of Askren being at the same gym and in the same organization but with those wrestling credentials you've got to think he's going to be a big prospect.

Re: Prospect Thread
Collegiate wrestler Chris Weidman is looking likely to head to the UFC. Although his MMA record is a modest 4-0, he does appear to be able to finish fights, with knockouts and a sub (and 3 fights won in the first round). His wrestling career is far most decorated: He holds wins over Ryan Bader and Mr. Wonderful Phil Davis.

Cubans make scary fighters. The have incredible boxers as well all know but the standard of wrestling and Judo is FAR higher than people appreciate.

Jav Einemo and Yoel Romero are both really good prospects if they want to get into the sport srsly, idk if theyve been mentioned yet
also think Sarnavskiy is going to be one of the best lightweights in the world, and Vasilevsky one of the top middleweights

Name: Eduardo Dantas
Weight: 132lbs
Record: 9-2-0
Team: Nova Uniao
Signed to: Shooto, defeated Japanese prospect Hiromasa Ogikubo via submission on May 30th
Background: Only 21, only losses by DQ and one to Masakatsu Ueda.
Bellator's bantamweight division is receiving one of Brazil's finest prospects.
Sherdog.com confirmed Tuesday that the fledgling promotion has signed budding Brazilian bantamweight star Eduardo "Dudu" Dantas. The current Shooto South American 132-pound champion, Dantas joins his Nova Uniao teammate Marlon Sandro who signed with the promotion in February.
"We are very happy about this news. It's more proof of the good talent developed at Nova Uniao," Dantas' trainer and Nova Uniao leader Andre Pederneiras told Sherdog.com. "I hope he can achieve glory and become the new Bellator champion."
The 24-year-old Dantas sports a 10-2 mark in MMA, and holds wins over former Shooto world champion Shinichi "B.J." Kojima and one of Brazil's top bantamweights, Luiz Alberto "Betao" Nogueira. His last loss came in July 2009 against former Shooto world champion Masakatsu Ueda.
There are no firm plans for Bellator's future fifth season, however, it is likely that Dantas will be used in a bantamweight tournament bracket to determine a challenger for champion Zach Makovsky.
