UFC light heavyweight champion, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua has recently undergone knee surgery on an injury he picked up at UFC 113 against Lyoto Machida, shelving him for the immediate future and postponing his first title defence against Rashad Evans.
Speaking to MMAWeekly.com, Dana said:
“He had the surgery in L.A. He’s gonna do all his therapy in Vegas. So he’s gonna be in Vegas for the next five weeks. He needed (surgery) after the fight. He got hurt in the fight.”
It appears Evans will now have to sit and wait it out following his own recent success inside the octagon as he looks to recapture the title he won at the back end of 2008.

Bad knees against a wrestler of Rashad's calibre when his takedown defence is already the biggest hole in his game? Not good for Shogun. Rashad will take him down all night long.

It's a detached ligament he's been fighting with.
