Mirko Cro-Cop (25-6-2) v Rousimar Palhares (18-2-0)

Palhares wouldnt be able to take Mirko down even if he was blindfolded, look at the way Mirko fended off al-turks td attempt, and al turk was a legit hw who was a grappling specialist, and seeing as Palhares has no kos to his name as far as i know, this is probably the biggest mismatch in the competition.

Ye but to be fair, Palhaeres was able to take Dan Henderson down and easily took down Horn as well. Still Cro Cop has excellent takedown defense and good BJJ defense so il go for Cro Cop by UD because Palahares looks like a really hard guy to stop.

Crocop LHK 1sr round KO, 5foot 8 means Crocop will be firing off headkicks from as soon as this one starts! Palhares would surely eat one when he was in takedown range!

Palhares is a problem for anybody if the fight hits the ground,he supposedly used to tap out Big Nog,Filho and many more of Bustamantes black belts on a regular basis.His stand up is sometimes flashy with his heel kicks and spins but overall it is his weak point of his game.
He can also take a good shot as his fight with Hendo proved that but could his chin stand up to a Heavy wieght striker,probably not.
Hendo fought the perfect fight against him by sprawling and avoiding the ground at all costs and thats saying something when Hendo only uses his great wrestling pedigree to avoid the ground game of an opponent but saying that Hendo was twice lucky not to tap when Palhares did actually manage to get him,once in the first when the bell saved him and in the second when he slipped out but hobbled away.
Cro-cop should get the win as that is exactly what Cro-cops game is all about and is the perfect foil for a smaller BJJ fighter or one dimensional wrestlers,never mind the obvious other reasons he should win.

Palhares has one way to win this fight and that is if he can get Cro-cop down and spins for an ankle or arm.

Cro-cop would more than likely stop him on his feet early or just wear him down untill a tired Palhares keeps dropping to gaurd in a desperate attempt to get the fight to the ground and there finish him while raining punches down from above.

OK guys I'm willing to start this up again as I really enjoyed doing it but when we switched to the armbar there wasn't really a big take up. Depending on the respose I'm willing to start it up again!!

This was my favourite ongoing thing on the forum but then in my move to England i had no access so couldn't keep at you about it! Only thought of it there this evening!

I am glad this is back. Your fight descriptions were picture perfect.

Really enjoyed this last time round. IMO CroCop LHK rd 2. Cannot see how Palhares can get Mirko to the floor.

No touch between the two, Cro Cop slips and a SUPERMAN PUNCH from Palhares KTFO of Cro Cop!


Joking lads, il do it.

Herb Dean is the ref for this one, and he brings the two fighters to the centre of the ring to read instructions. The two fighters touch gloves and we are ready to go. The round starts and Cro Cop is circling already, throws a right jab that connects. Palahres shoots for the takedown but Cro Cop sprawls and easily avoids it. Leg kick by Cro Cop. Palahres backing off now, nice combo by Cro Cop. Palhares shoots again but Cro Cop avoids easily. Another right by Cro Cop and Palheares is bleeding from the nose. 2 minutes gone. Palhares tries a change of tactic and drops to his back, trying to catch Cro Cop with a triangle but Cro Cop easily escapes. Lands a few shots. Dean stands them up. Palahres goes for another takedown but Cro Cop telegraphs and BANG ON THE BUTTON! Timed to perfection Head kick and Palhares is out cold. Cro Cop is back! The doctors check on Palhares as Cro Cop celebrates. Palahres is still out, we watch the reply and he was caught shooting in for the takedown. Palahres is finally up and Cro Cop checks on him. Cro Cop goes to talk to with Rogan.


Rogan: Aright im here with Mirko Cro Cop, excellent peformance from tonight, how are you feeling.

Cro Cop: I am very happy to be in UFC and to entertain fans.

Rogan: You caught him with a devastatitng HK, check out your handwork here on the big screen, was the gameplan going into try and stand with him?

Cro Cop: Palhares is tough guy, he has good jiu-jitsu so I want to try and fight standing up.
