Thought this would be an interesting thread...

Who has had the most impressive debut in MMA?

This can take into account the quality of opposition, the entertainment factor of the fight, the domination of the fighter. Whatever you want.

I struggle to think of things of the top of my head, so this may be way off the mark, but how about Junior Dos Santos against Werdum in his UFC debut??

    So, DISCUSS! cheers

I'd say that Little Nogs UFC debut was really impressive. I'd also say Anderson Silva's UFC debut against Chris Leben was as good as I've seen.

Goran Reljic v Wilson Gouveia UFC 84. When fully fit and back fighting, he will tear through 185!

    Good thread

I might be biased but JDS against Werdum. Werdum was a top 5 UFC HW, on the brink of a title shot, just TKOed Gonzaga and Vera and was close to the top. In his way a 24 year old unknown brazilian. Next thing for Werdum unconcious, staring at the celling after being KTFO. Straight away I became a fan.

Houstan Alexander was pretty impressive in his UFC debut, ok now he is shit but he destroyed the guy who destroyed Griffin.

Both GSP and BJ Penn were impressive when the first enetered the UFC as well.

I also agree with Alex about Reljic, amazing performance against a good competitor.

Maby Vitor Belfort, his 1st night in UFC and he won the Hw tournament in like 2 mins! He was just a kid then and in his next fight smashed Tank Abbott in no time... Maby not the single most impressive fight but the most impressive entertance to UFC?

Reljic - Is he still alive! Seriously there was such hype around this guy, I said watch out for him to be a guy who can beat Silva, He was supposed to be coming back soon... ages ago! I hope he is on the mend and ready to come back soon!

Houstan Alexander - Yeah id 100% agree there mate! forgot about that, Id have to say that was one that dropped everyone around me's jaw, He buckled Jardines legs over and over again, Good call!

Reljic was close to a comeback, but then injured himself while rescuing someone from a sinking car or something!

I heard he was meant to becoming back in early 2010 but I don't see him on any card anywhere. I really hope he makes a comeback maybe against sexyama for the first fight.

all of the above are good examples.

i would add Tod Duffee and Paul Daley to that list without thinking too far back.

Can't get much better than Duffee's debut. Laughing

Rampage's debut was pretty good. Not many people expected him to beat Chuck again, especially not by knockout.

Apart from that, Pete Williams' debut where he kicked Mark Coleman's head into the cheap seats was pretty good, as was Jerry Bohlander's where he took out Scott Ferrozo who must have been twice his weight. They don't make 'em like that any more..........

Can't believe we've come this far without mentioning the momentous occasion that was the debut of Neil Grove...

I don't think there's ever been such a hype around a fighter before, the whole of London was buzzing with anticipation! I can still remember the whispers on the underground the week before, 'Goliath is coming, Goliath is coming.........' Kids were asking their mum's if it was true, grown men were weeping in the streets, and if you listened hard enough you could just hear the sound of a legend approaching.

Nick Diaz's Pride debut was pretty special taking out Gomi like that was impressive (although now it is a NC due to Nock's favourite pass time)

Also enjoyed Krazy Horses Elite XC debut knocking out KJ Noon's

That Krazyhorse KO was great! havnt seen it in years!! The guy was a real entertainer if nothing else!

Was Goodridges Debit the Crucifix elbos KO????? Everyone overlooked that one good call!! Ill 2nd that! Ive never seen such a brutal KO since!
