MMAbay.co.uk have also confirmed that Wanderlei Silva has had facial surgery rulling him out of UFC 105!! Seriously what is this? Now we all know how those MMAbay stories turn out...

Shame he is out of UFC 105!... and the rest of the year. At a bad stage of his career too! He really will need to come back strong for UFC to keep him I feel. But whats the craic with the face? Is it like Botox or a facelift to look better.. if he thinks thats a good look! Or is it perhaps to remove the caveman eyebrow ridge or scar tissue to stop him getting cut so easily?

I don't know if a bit of time off is a bad thing. I think as fighters age, having more time between fights might be a good thing. Sadly, I think Wand's done as a top 10 fighter, but he can still have a lot of good superfights. I imagine the facial surgery's due to scar tissue, like you said ben. If the article's legit.

The Photos all look real to me.. But who knows. Your right a bit of time off could be what he needs. But I dont think his days of being a top 10 fighter are over. He is 1 win away from being a top 10 figher. He wasnt far off Rich Franklin ability wise and he was a top Mw. I think Wandy could beat Akiyama or some lower ranking 185ers for sure and take their place. Jardine is a top 10 at the weight above him and he blew him away in a matter of seconds! I think he will break the top 10 at 185lbs... I dont see him as a champ again sadly though.

I saw these pictures the other day and people were asking if it was a fake, he looks completely different side on. I would imagine that he has had the scar tissue removed. Can't say he probably didn't need it, his face was a bit of a mess. Not that I would have been the one to tell him!!

i hope these are shopped, making someones face look weird like that is a very easy thing to do so i reckon they might be fake.

I think he may have had some of the scar tissue removed from around his eyes, forehead and cheeks.

I tried ringing a few people today who would know Wandi well but couldn't get hold of any of them, time differences and training schedules.

Just from looking at the pictures though, it does look like he's had some of the scar tissue removed.
