Re: The Dynamite!! 2010 thread
I think it's not the greatest idea for Aoki, a top 5 LW who is chasing a rematch against Melendez and if Dream folds, could be looking at the UFC. From my perspective, I'll watch the fight and very interested. I think it would work well if it was someone like BJ. BJ vs Jienetsu or any of Sawour/Zambdis/Petrosyan ect could be interesting. Mostly because BJ would not only have a very good chance of escaping the K-1 round, but actually coming out on top. Aoki is a grappler through and through with no semblance of power in his hands and a poor chin. If it does start in K-1 rules, then unless he runs away for the whole round or this guy turns out to be a can, Aoki is most likely going to sleep and that won't help his progress. I know nothing about his opponent so I don't actually know how good he is.

Nagashima is a bit wild, but serious KO power. he won the K1-MAX japan tournament this year knocking out 3 guys in one night.
...and he made it to the last 8 of the world MAX but was beaten by overall runner up Zambidis.
probably the second best in Japan at -70kg (155 bs) after YoshiHERO Sato.

Re: The Dynamite!! 2010 thread
new matches officially announced in dynamite:
Minowaman vs Hiroshi Izumi (DREAM rules)
Hideo Tokoro vs Kazuhisa Watanabe* (DREAM rules)
former japanese featherweight boxing champion.
...but is a novice to MMA and 1-4 in K-1 rules, somehow managing to lose to MIYATA and DJ TAIKI
Hayato "Mach" Sakurai vs Jason High
someone is getting knocked out in that one i think
and something a little bit more tasty
K-1 Rules:
K-1 Heavyweight Champion Kyotaro vs. DREAM light-heavyweight Champion Gegard Mousasi
i expect there to be one more series of announcements including fights for Overeem (who has confirmed himself), Le Banner, Mizuno and Ishii

Based on that, he is a legit kickboxer so I would fear for Aoki if it goes to K-1 rules. I think it would have been better of Nagashima took on someone like Tokoro or even Hellboy at 155 in a K-1/MMA fight while Aoki fought someone a little bit more on his level.
From what I heard, Le Banner is meant to be fighting Mizuno. I'm not sure how reliable that is, but I would love to see Ishii fight Mousassi. I'd pick him to beat Le Banner, He'll be at a size advantage, but I'd pick him to take the fight down and sub him quickly.

Sergei Kharitonov vs Tatsuya Mizuno on for Dynamite!!
http://www.mmafighting.com/2010/12/17/sergei-kharitonov-vs-tatsuya-mizuno-booked-for-dyanmite/
yet to be confirmed by dreamofficial.com, but mmafighting is reliable.
surprised to see Sergei fighting so soon after being knocked out, but i doubt that will happen again.
Mizuno could make it competitive, after all he rocked Manhoef to his boots before submitting him, but i expect it to be more like Mizuno/Crocop.
this leaves....Le Banner, Ishii, Overeem, Manhoef...maybe some others who could fight each other.

Do you think Manhoef would take on Overeem at HW? That would be fun while it lasted.

I would love to see that. Manhoef is a training partner and close friend of Hari as well!
Alaistair's knee would meet Melvin's face fairly early though I'd imagine.

Overeem is competing against Lashley
SF matchmaker announced it on twitter. I can only assume its a bodybuilding contest, and not an MMA fight.

Re: The Dynamite!! 2010 thread
"The fight between Shinichi Suzukawa and Bob Sapp will be fought under IGF special rules (produced by Antonio Inoki) and while not all details are set at this time, it seems to be no-gloves, only open palm strikes MMA.
Suzukawa is training at UWF Snakepit Japan in preparation for this fight. He also went to Thailand between December 10th and 20th to work on his stand-up."
Thats all I know so far...
And Duffee is 100% confirmed to fight Overeem

Re: The Dynamite!! 2010 thread
I heard it may be pro wrestling
IGF = Inoki's pro wrestling promotion.
maybe like pancrase rules mma though.
palm strikes only will be beneficial to the pot smoking sumo if anything, i say Sapp gets folded by a slap this time.

Re: The Dynamite!! 2010 thread
i heard he just needs to get a work visa then they can announce it.
rom middleeasy.
It has been reported that Todd Duffee has accepted the offer to fight Alistair Overeem (mainly for the loot, cant blame him). The amount offered to Duffee is allegedly in the amount of $60,000 just to show and another undisclosed lump sum if he wins. According to Jonathan Luther, Todd Duffee is in Japan and he may run into problems obtaining a visa, which can obviously hinder the process of fighting in Japan exponentially. Nothing has officially been announced, but if Duffee can get a visa, expect an announcement from Japan's general direction immediately.

Re: The Dynamite!! 2010 thread
Not really feeling Dynamite this year. Kawajiri vs Thomson and Bibiano vs Takaya 2 are the only real competitive fights. There's some curiosity about others, but Soul of Fight is waaay better in terms of well matched fights. Loving Parky vs Blanco.

Re: The Dynamite!! 2010 thread
To be fair, the first Takaya vs Fernandes was a barn burner and Crusher vs Thomson has similar potential. I rewatched Thomson vs Melendez 1 the other night and as a Kawajiri fan that fight gives me nightmares. Thomson hasn't looked that good either before or since that fight, I don't know if that's his true potential or if it was just one brilliant night for him, but if he comes to fight in that kind of form it'll be a war.

WORST INTERVIEW EVER>>>>>>ENJOY!
Translated from the DREAM website (12.13 interview)--
----- What has your mental state been like since the fight was announced?
Aoki: I just need to go in there and fight.
----- This will be the fifth consecutive year that you're on the NYE card.
Aoki: I don't think it's an any accomplishment to just be in the event.
----- Are there any differences between a regular DREAM event and the Dynamite!! event on NYE?
Aoki: Not especially.
----- What's your impression of your opponent, Jienotsu?
Aoki: I haven't really thought of him as an opponent.
----- Jienotsu stated that MMA is a hobby for him, while cos-play is his real job.
Aoki: He's just saying that. I don't think he truly feels that way. I'm not stupid. I'm not taking what he says literally.
----- What do you think of the K-1/DREAM mixed rules? As of now, it hasn't been decided whether the first round will be K-1 rules or DREAM rules.
Aoki: I wonder. I'm not really sure.
----- If the first round is fought under K-1 rules, do you think you will be at a disadvantage?
Aoki: If the first round was under DREAM rules, the fight would be over too quickly. But yeah, this rules would be different from what I'm used to, so in that sense I do have some anxiety.
----- Jienotsu said that he will finish the fight in the first round so he can avoid the 2nd round.
Aoki: I would expect that to be his goal.
----- He also said that if it goes to the 2nd round and he gets caught in a submission, he would tap immediately.
Aoki: So what? Anyone that knows anything would understand that.
----- How do you envision this fight ending?
Aoki: This is my job too, so of course I have in mind how the fight will end.
----- Do you plan on ending the fight in round one?
Aoki: I'm an MMA fighter, so I plan on fighting an MMA fight.
----- This fight is pitting the DREAM champion against the K-1 MAX Japan champion, so some people may be looking at this fight as each fighter representing his organization.
Aoki: It's like baseball vs basketball. This fight really means nothing.
----- So you think this fight has no significance?
Aoki: If you look at this as a pure contest, it has no significance whatsoever.
----- Why did you accept this fight?
Aoki: It's my job.
----- This will be your first fight since you got married. Has there been any changes in your mood?
Aoki: Nothing at all.
----- Are you thinking of putting on any theatrics after winning, like you did last year?
Aoki: I have no plans at all.
----- Have you watched any of Jienotsu's fights?
Aoki: Yep, of course. He's a skillful offensive fighter.
----- Do you feel that there are parts in the striking game in which you have an advantage?
Aoki: I don't think so. It's a different sport.
----- Is there anything you would like to say to Jienotsu?
Aoki: No, nothing at all.
---- Your parting words please.
Aoki: I'm going to give it my all as I always do. That's it.
----- What has your mental state been like since the fight was announced?

Re: The Dynamite!! 2010 thread
Hope your all having a good xmas holiday lads...
Just a wee update for you all.
Duffee vs Overeem is Official though I cant find one way or another a Dream Hw title will be on the line
The Aoki fight will only be 2 rounds, 1st round a 3 min Kickboxing match, 2nd round a 5 Min MMA round. There will be 60 seconds between rounds and it will be scored a draw if no one finishes in the time allowed. The fight will be fought with standard MMA gloves for BOTH rounds...
As rumoured Sapps fight will be a standard MMA rules figth but with No gloves, Palm strikes only, Closed fists and Backfists arent allowed.
