Palhares is a beast!!

Great takedowns insanely strong, he slammed Hendo aswell a few years ago when they fought. Ridiculously good at submissions. He submitted 3 guys straight to make it into final of ADCC where he lost on points to Galvao who went on to win absolute title aswell. And his stand up is getting better and better aswell he dropped Miller with head kick last fight and just worked on his strikes and GnP in that fight. Could easily have ended it by sub whenever he wanted.


His only weakness i see is his head, i hope Bustamante can sort him and get his act together. He was also involved in incidents at ADCC.....

completely agree,ridiculously talented and strong as an OX,but completely off his head.

I'd actually love to see Palhares vs Sonnen at some stage

IMO Palhares is top 5 good right now, he would be the most likely fighter to beat Sonnen head to head at 185 in MMA I reckon (Anderson included)

I reckon if they had of matched him up with Santiago or Maia he would have tore either of them limb from limb.

Cant wait to see how he is matched up with next, I think a wrestler he cant take down with good hands will be his toughest fight, Okami would be a big test, I want to see that fight.

One think ill stick my neck on the line and said is that I think Palhares will get a UFC title shot in the next couple of years.

You'd have to back him over Sonnen I think,since his biggest strength is Sonnens Achilles heal in the sport and the fight will be mostly spent on the ground.

I'm pretty sure he'll earn a shot at the belt before to long.

I think Maia would be a great next match up for him next and I'd be buzzing to watch that fight.

His height and lack of reach is going to be his problem,especially against someone like Anderson,who can keep distance and keep picking him off.

Okami would be a good test for him in a similar way

Understand where everyone is coming from, there is no doubt that he has the power and the skills to worry anyone @ 185, the problem though, is his head, he is absolutely barking. Can everyone really see him holding it together to mainting a shot? Against Marquardt he was bizzare, against Miller he was downright mental.

Talent and potential yes reality along long way off a title shot

Future MW champion for me, been saying it for a long time. Stick him in with Anderson tomorrow and he walks out as champ.

Sonnen will beat Anderson, defend the belt once or twice, then lose it to Palhares IMO. Unless Sonnen decides to keep it standing and just box with him, in which case he can beat Palhares.

He's a beast of a fighter but his mental strength isn't where it needs to be for me. Not yet anyway. He held on for an age against Drwazl, stopped in the middle of the fight against Nate and decided he beat Miller and started celebrating.

He is still yet to beat a top fighter IMO. I'd like to see him fight Munoz or Okami in the future, those will be real tests. Okami especially, a top wrestler with good wrestling.

Dana and Joe Silva better get their fingers out and start giving Toquinho some better competition. He needs to fight Bisping/Maia winner next for next shot at title after Sonnen/Munoz get their chance.

Prediction: Palhares will be champ within his next 4 fights.

I put it in my predictions for this year,that Palhares gets a Title shot this year.

I think he loses to Silva,but beats Sonnan and the rest of the division.

No chance that Palhares gets the Bisping/Maia winner, give him Alan Belcher next.

Feed him Belfort

Belfort's next "fight" (I think massacre would be more suiting) is against Wanderlei after they've coached on TUF: Brazil.

Belfort is fighting Wandi next for TUF. Sonnen/Munoz winner will get a title shot in early summer. Bisping-Maia winner need to fight someone??? It can only be Palhares IMO.



Belcher can fight Weidman next.

I'd probably give Palhares,next months winner between Okami and Boetsch next.

Belchers not a bad shout,but i would personally like to see Belcher get another couple of wins and fights back under his belt,before he tries to get back on the contender path.
One fight against a fighter like Mcdonald,after being out for so long,from a career threatening injury,is not enough IMO to throw him straight back in with a top contender,he nees another fight or two first.

Dana has said that the winner of Bisping-Maia gets the next title shot after Sonnen/Munoz, if Bisping wins I expect him to sit out and wait for his shot, because he won't be getting another one after that. If Maia wins then Dana will no doubt back track and say he needs a few more wins.

I wouldn't really say Palhares is a top contender at this point, he does have all the skills to become a champion, and based on his performances it would be hard to back against him in any of his fights, but he hasn't beaten anybody high profile yet to say that he is a top contender compared to Belcher. Belcher is a good opponent in that a dominant win over him (which I think Palhares would do) would catapult him into top contender status.

The winner of Okami/Boestch is a good shout, especially if it's Okami who wins.

I say if Maia loses to Bisping have them fight. Would be very interesting to see the two of BJJ's top stars compete in an MMA match.

If Bisping wins, I highly doubt he would fight Palhares if he can sit out and wait for a title shot.

Other possiblities could be Belcher or Okami/Boetsch as you guys were saying.
