UFC 163, Spoilers Empty UFC 163, Spoilers

    Post  rudeboyben84 Sun Aug 04, 2013 11:59 am

Just watched the event this morning, im absolutly shocked at Davis got that decision, granted some rounds were close but I had it 30-27 to Machida.

How did you all score it? Machida outstruck him in every round pretty clearly land more shots and landing harder better timed shots too. Davis didnt do much with the late takedowns he scored and got a LOT of Takedowns stuffed, about 10 from what I counted.

Stuffing takedowns scores nothing in UFC, thats clear. But they need to stop scoring Takedowns so highly, if they dont take defending them into account. Were at a point here where a takedown is worth MORE than a flush hard combo...

Fucking MMA juding strikes again. What next for them both now? Machida could wait to see if Anderson loses is Weidman in the rematch. I wonder if he would take a fight with Belfort at 195lbs that would be Ideal IMO. Test the waters of moving down a weight class.

Davis should rematch Nog I think.

Machida wants Davis rematch, saw the Ariel hewani interview who mentioned he was skipped over for the title shot twice. I would hope a rematch isnt out of the question. Machida is a legend of the devison and this is the 2nd terrible decision he has taken. Dana himself saw what I didn 30-27 Machida so lets hope he lets him try to avenge this "Loss"

watched the fights this morning, i was fast-forwarding to the next fight because i thought the decision was a foregone conclusion...

Absolutley shocking decision, Machida won all 3 rounds and there was no doubt in my mind, clear 10-9 Machida in each case. Possibly the worst decision I have ever seen in the UFC and probably the most shocking.

can't be bothered with a rematch, they should just CORRECT THE SCORE and overturn it....but obviously that wont happen.

Call it a No Contest like when Mariuz pudz got that win over James Thompson. NC due to juding error. Pissed off to see this because Machida would have certainly got a title shot with the win.

I reckon Glover gets the shot after Gus if he beats Bader. Will leave the devision in a confusing state if he doesnt beat Bader though!

Aldo vs KZ was a disapointing finish too, Unlucky for KZ that he got injured he had won the 3rd and Aldo slows in later rounds. I hope his injury doesnt have him on the shelf too long.

Linekar has missed weight twice in recent fights now, maby he needs to move back to Bw?

Magalesh need cut, doesnt say much for Davis that apart from Machida, Magalesh and Prado two guys on the verge of being cut are his only wins since the Nog fight in 2011. Even though the fight wasnt good I think a Machida rematch would be great.

Maby Belfort would fight Davis if he wants a 205er.

I think McCall vs Dodson for a number 1 contenders fight would be great next assuming Benavidez gets a shot next. Dodson gave MM some trouble and IMO McCall won the 1st fight scored a draw against MM.

Watched it this morning. IMO, all three rounds were 10-9, clearly Machida's. Problem is though, with Machida's counter striking style, if his opponent doesn't open up, he's vulnerable to these decisions. I know that we've all said it for years, but, the scoring system has to be reviewed. I fail to see how, a man clearly being outstruck, can take his opponent down, lie on top of him for a minute or so, do fuck all, and win the round. White can bang on all day, about negative fighters, but whilst MMA scoring, so clearly favours wrestling, negative fighters will win decisions. You have to feel for Machida. He has two losses on his record (this one and the decision against Ramplod) that shouldn't be there.

Gutted for KZ, but I think the fight may well have gone differently, had Aldo not injured his foot. When was the last time we saw Aldo, not throw leg kicks?

Good performance from Lineker, but I think he has to consider going back to 135lb. He has the power to make an impact there, I'm sure.

The Davis decision literally woke me up I was half a sleep during the 3rd Round and assume Machida at worst won 29-28 and to hear 'the winner Phil 'Mr. Wonderful' Davis !' absolutely shocked me. I think the decision was terrible possibly even worse than Nam Phan vs Leonard Garcia a few years back !

(I'v'e watched the fight again since and scored It 30-27 Machida)

Jung was so disappointing he was far too cautious and did nothing as did Aldo who just didn't seem to want to pull the trigger I was also surprised at Aldo deciding to out grapple Jung that could have cost him as he looked gassed in the 4th before the unfortunate injury to Jung. Loved the McCall Santos fight never been a huge fan of the Flyweights especially the current UFC Champion but damn It Uncle Creepy is great to watch.

That Perosh result was probably the biggest shock of the night I literally couldn't believe It, I thought this was the biggest gimme on the card I couldn't see how Perosh would beat Vinny but I was like probably like everybody watching including the Ozzie's who didn't see that coming.

Simple solution is rounds that are a draw. Id love to see how many rounds have been scored a draw in our sport because if judges couldnt tell who is winning but feel the need to do a 10-9 one way or the other id rather they admitted they hadnt been watching every strike of a slow paced round and put a draw. The scoring in MMA is a joke and its 90% on the judges IMO not the scoring criteria which seems very open to interperation.

The Machida scores were bullshit, couldn't believe the result when it was announced.

I was betting on the fights last night with a group of mates,I had Machida UD and everyone who i bet against had already handed me there $10 before the decision was announced, there wasn't a person in the room that thought any other way Mad

Well after a load of jeers and piss taking, and handing their $10 back plus the ones I had to dig out of my wallet,no one could still work that decision out.

I could probably give Davis the 2nd rd,but that's it

Hope justice will be served in a rematch, Davis hasnt done shit since 2011 to be in the title picture and his win over Gus was in 2010 so make them rematch. UFC have already confirmed that Glover will get a title shot with a strong win over Bader so its not like making them rematch will fuck with the title picture.

Machida will win more convincingly. You saw in close exchanges what when he hit Davis, davis wanted out of there. Machida just needs to put the pressure on him a bit more and make sure the Judges arent asleep again.
