Think back to 2009 after UFC bought Pride over and had access to their contracts like Hunts. UFC had seen hunt as not worth the while, he was in his mid 30's and wasnt close to being top 50 ranked after 5 back to back losses.

Hunt is only paid 6K to show 6K to win I believe so they offered to pay him the remainder of his contract to sit on the sofa at home and not worry about ever having to make that 265lbs weight cut again!

Hunt being the fighter he is refused and wanted to turn up and fight for his pay, so come UFC 119 Hunt shows up only to take another 1st round loss, his 6th in a row to Sean McCorkle, possibly the worst fighter Hunt has ever lost to.

With a record of 5-7 in MMA it looked like Hunt's fighting days were over and the man who beat Crocop and Wandereli was long gone.

Now Hunt has fought his way back to being the #8 Heavyweight in the world after an amazing 4 fight streak. The Rally for Hunt to get another title shot is starting again and by my books being the UFC Heavy with the longest winning spree he is probabally a fight away.

In my opinion the Super Samoan has the greatest underdog story ive seen as an MMA fan. I cant remember a fighter sinking so low only to come back at 38 and be on top of the world like he is. Long may his run continue, right now he is probabally the man Id most like to see holding that UFC Title however unlikely.

Anyone know of a better come back story for an MMA fighers career? Who do you all want to see him fight next? I hear a few calls of Nelson going up should he get past Kongo...

Ive always wanted him to fight Nog or Bigfoot myself.

It's an excellent MMA story It's up there with Frank Mir's comeback, how amazing would It be If Hunt was fighting for the Title later this year.

As for next fight I'm not 100% sure who will be next fight he said Top 5 but I'm sure that will happen. Nelson sounds good as does a Shane Carwin fight.

What about the winner of Gonzaga vs Browne?

Or a rematch with Overeem ?

Really pleased for Hunto although I think Struve could have won the fight if he thought smarter - especially in the first - he had Hunt's back at one point and he went for an arm lock instead that wasnt on.

Hunt is at ATT now, (Doesnt want to fight Bigfoot) that explains where this grappling has come from. Hunt wasnt bad on the ground back in the day but he seems a little slower now so great TDD will help. He puzzles me as a fighter, when you think Mousasi a 85er and McCorkle who isnt anybody special in comparison to his past competition. He was great in Pride, really McCrokle was and Mousasi are the losses I dont understand.

Overeem rematch is what he wanted before the Struve fight so if Reem looses lets see it. He cant toss Hunt around as their previous fight and the Japanese gameshow in a way showed when they lock up after close range punches land its Hunt who will be throwing him about.

Hunts Punch power is more than Overeems and his Chin is better. So using the old Chin/Power to decide who wins a slugging match Hunt come up smelling of roses. Overeem is a 1 shot puncher, Hunt can walk right into them like he did with Struve and pick his shots through the guard. Reem loves a turtle up and in K-1 great but Hunt could double up on that hook as he did with struve, even at half power that could have Reem chicken dancing.

Nog gets KO'd by Hunt. He isnt pulling out another Miracle at his age
If Mir cant take him down Hunt has fun with him.
Maby I over estimate him, Sure ive done it with Wand for years! untill the one night I dont back him Laughing

I like the Browne vs Gonzaga winner, Nelson if he gets past Kongo? 2 great fights if he isnt moving on to bigger thinks, Id say without doubt UFC will have him UFC have Nelson at 7! Holy Fuck I though they didnt like him!!!

Hunt doenst stack up bad against most heavies, I feel Junior might be too quick with his hands and movement for slower 38 year old Hunt to close the distance and Cain would look like it was a day in wrestling practice. I dont facny him agaisnt the top 2 at all but fuck it anyone else Hunt has a decent shot against.

I don't buy that,Hunt trashed him standing, and the only reason the fight went to the ground after the first round was because Hunt wanted it there. He got the takedowns and engaged Struve on the ground when he didnt have to...overall he outgrappled him - but it was an unnecessary risk.

The fight was only competitive because of Hunt's questionable decision making. Hunt certainly has the beating of Struve.

Hunts fight IQ is definitely an issue. Struve was still capable of tapping him. A good few of the times Hunt has been subbed/nearly subbed have come from him engaging fighters on the ground when he didn't really need to. He took Overeem down and followed him down.
