Im seriously pissed off to here that Overeem was able to pump his body full of massive amounts of performance enhancing substances and get a 9 month ban...

Diaz smoked a few Joints LEGALLY and gets a 12 month ban from the Sport. If it isnt the Judges spoiling MMA its these fucking halfwits in the Athletic comissions.

    Cunts.

I dont see the logic behind this at all. Disgusts me.

AC "Mr Diaz you tested positive several yrs ago for Marijuana and you told the Commission at that time it was a isolated incident and it wouldn't happen again"

    Diaz "Yes"

AC "you tested positive again so how soon after testifying did you start using again"?

    Diaz "when I got home"

AC "so you just told us that to get through the hearing"?

    Diaz "Yes"

    lol!

Sonnen showed up well dressed, gave a professional response, gave the commision exactly what they wanted to hear, apologised repeatedley and thanked them for their time before the discussed the verdict. By the end, not only did he get the verdict he wanted, but the president there was applauding Sonnen and called him the most honest guy ever to attend the hearing. And even offered him a job to work with the commsion in relation to TRT future protocols.

Nick Diaz showed up in jeans and his opening response to their questions is what P4P quoted.

Sonnen knows how to play the game, meanwhile Diaz is so utterly clueless in life its actually painful watching him do this.

And NO its not because Diaz is some sort of a free spirit, who's not afraid to speak his mind and who is a tough 209 "Aint no Bitch" "Dont be scared Homie" liberal free thinker!!! The guy is just clueless on how things work and is surrounded by yes men and excuse makers in Caeser Gracie and has issues. You all heard he walked out on a charity event last week right? Who does this???

It does suck that we don't get to see him fight for ages, but at the end of the day, what he did is illegal,it's a banned substance in the work he has chosen, there are hundreds of thousands of people that would love to smoke weed, but can't because they know they'll lose their jobs full stop, not just get a suspension and keep 70% of a paycheck that would take the average worker years to earn.

so this just comes down to Diaz being a prick and continuing to add to his ever growing list of terrible decisions concerning his career and fucking us fans over to what we want to watch.
This is his second offense, doing the exact same thing,he's quit smoking in time for tests plenty of times before, but again, just like last time,he's didn't pack up smoking early enough,he pushed it to close and has been punished for it.He knew it was wrong,he knew the consequences of his actions,so he deserves the 12 month suspension IMO.

You're not letting the fact Diaz is one of your favourite fighters rule your judgement are you Ben Wink

Overeem's first offense and he gets a 9 month ban. Diaz's first offence for weed saw him get a 6 month ban, this was his second offense so obviously it's going to be longer, thus a year long ban. Plus Diaz trying to take the NSAC to court oviously didn't help his case. In my opinion the NSAC have done what they had to do.

Diaz being one of my favorite fighters and being a smoker probabally both cloud my judgement. Laughing

    1. He wasnt high when he fought Condit

    2. His weed smoking is legal

Seems totally fucked up that taking a Legal medication that isnt performance enhancing could get you a year! I hope there is some sort of appeal or something this smart ass lawyer can do because it seems excessive to most people Ive talked to.

Anyone know what Date Overeems 9 month Ban started from? Is it from when he last fought? Im not sure how the bans work.

If you have a prescription for medical marijuana then it's fully legal for you to smoke it in the state of California and if you work somewhere that drug tests you are exempt from being tested for marijuana.

However, Diaz failed his test in Nevada and that's why he's been banned.

As for Diaz being clueless, not true. He's a very intelligent guy BUT fighting is not his be all and end all. Nick Diaz could very easily become the next Eddie Bravo in terms of opening BJJ schools, travelling for seminars, revolutionizing the way BJJ is practiced, and spend his spare time doing triathlons. He'd make a fortune, enjoy himself, not have to get punched in the head and be far happier than he is when training and fighting. Diaz doesn't care all that much if he doesn't get to fight.

Sonnen on the other hand does, and doesn't have the options Diaz has. His alternative career path is politics, or coaching wrestling at a University. Neither pay as well as fighting, neither give him the platform to say whatever he wants whenever he wants and neither is very exciting.

Diaz and Sonnen are different people with different outlooks.

Thats a good point mate. I wasnt refering to Sonnen juicing by the way. Im all for him using TRT, whatever keeps the champ fit and healthy! Wink

Overeem on the other hand I think was gaining an unfair competitive advantage.

Im just shocked Overeem and Diaz both tested positive for something the comission had banned. Overeem skipped out on tests for the Lesnar fight, and Diaz has a licence for the substance he took... Overeem didnt have a TRT note or anything, he just played Dumb.

Its a shocking call that he got less time than Diaz in my books.

Good point about Diaz coachin and doing Triathalons etc.. im sure he could keep himself busy but I hope Cesar talks him into fighting again because Ive me heart set on Seeing the Diaz bros lift the Lw and Ww titles by 2013! Twisted Evil

he didnt do his BJJ reputation any favours by ducking a charity match with Braulio.

Overeem's ban is from when he tested positive, so he is able to fight December 29th 2012 I think (So it might as well have been a 1 year ban from his last fight). He will no doubt be fighting on the UFC New Year's Eve card.

Don't you get it though? Diaz is all about mystique, the attitude, the reputation for not following rules.

His reputation amongst the main stream traditional BJJ Community might suffer because he didn't turn up but he won't care. Eddie Bravo is widely despised amongst the mainstream traditional BJJ community because he promotes BJJ without the key, without the traditional style of guard(Marcelo Garcia has had issues in the past with the trad heads because of his use of the X Guard but because he's Brazilian, and because he's so fucking good they tend to turn a blind eye), but the underground/non main stream traditional community is so much bigger and that's where the money is.

That's why Eddie Bravo is a millionaire. Because you get all these kids coming into the sport and they see the traditional way of doing things and then look at the "cooler" more innovative way that Bravo is doing things and they gravitate towards him. The same will happen with Diaz. It's already happening, the school he and Nate run is full and they're already looking to open another. People are travelling to train with the Diaz brothers because they're "cool", because they're outspoken, because they're seen as "bad-asses" etc etc. If you want to learn BJJ to compete in competitions, you go to a Gracie school, or ATT or Marcelo Garcia's school in New York, but if you're a kid and you want to do it for recreation or because you think it's cool or because you're a stoner, then you go to an Eddie Bravo, or a Nick Diaz.

Diaz knows this and he knows that there are a lot of people that gravitate towards people like him.
