Edgar Gets His Rematch!
Dana White just tweeted saying that Frankie Edgar will get his rematch against Ben Henderson this Summer. Looks like Edgar finally got his way and doesn't want to go down to featherweight. I think he definitely deserves the rematch, especially after having to rematch Gray Maynard and BJ Penn. Who do you guys see winning the rematch? And what would you now do with the other guys? I would have Anthony Pettis face the winner of Jim Miller and Nate Diaz in order to get the next number 1 contender.

Re: Edgar Gets His Rematch!
Dana also confirmed the winner of Jim Miller vs Nate Diaz will fight for the belt? I read that earlier, if it's true where does that leave Pettis? He must be pissed off right now.

Re: Edgar Gets His Rematch!
He said that Miller/Diaz was a number 1 contender fight before he spoke to Edgar, he still wanted Edgar to drop down at this point, now that Edgar is getting his rematch, I think we'll see Pettis face the winner of Miller/Diaz, the timing of both fights should work out too I think.
Ariel Helwani just wrote on Twitter that he thinks Pettis should face Gilbert Melendez, that would be interesting.

Re: Edgar Gets His Rematch!
Pettis vs Gilbert would be a great fight.
Not sure why people keep referring to Edgar's rematch as if they entitled him to a rematch. Edgar vs Penn 1 was a ridiculous decision, and Edgar vs Maynard 2 was a draw and a ridiculous decision.
Hendo to beat him comfortably again.

Re: Edgar Gets His Rematch!
he keeps having rematches :\ I thought he beat BJ the first time and didnt need a second fight. The Maynard rematches made sense. This one doesnt. Just because it was competitive doesnt mean people want to see the fight again, that's not good matchmaking.

i agree about BJ 1, and maynard was a draw so of course a rematch was in order.
the Henderson fight was not close..

Re: Edgar Gets His Rematch!
I reckon he'll have talked to Dana and said 'Give me my rematch, if i lose that, i'll go to 145'.
Edgar-Aldo before the end of 2012...?

That'd be 3 loses in a year for Edgar.

Re: Edgar Gets His Rematch!
Seems pretty unnecessary as the fight wasn't that close I would have thought Edgar would have to win another fight before another shot unless as a long shot the legalisation of MMA in NYC is pretty near and a event could be held at MSG over the summer maybe ?.

I would just like to point out a prediction I made in the 2012 predictions thread
I'm half way there!

Bendo will beat Edgar, Edgar gets a rematch, loses again, then drops to FW, wins one match, then gets Aldo

Re: Edgar Gets His Rematch!
Absolute bullshit.
The LW title picture was finally becoming interesting.
Every time the champ loses a decision of any kind, there will be a rematch. Is that how it is now?
Fookin jurk. I fort fe UFC was tryntbe seerus?

Re: Edgar Gets His Rematch!
Disapointing news, Pettis is the clear cut next in line. I read Dana say Miller/Diaz would get next shot and although I dont see how that makes sence id have been ok with it.
Edgar got a win and a draw he probabally shouldnt have, he has had his run of good luck already, getting put in a reamatch with Bendo shows the sort of favoritism we would have expected guys like Couture to be shown
Ive a real dislike for Edgar for holding up the devision but at least once Bendo beats him again he will have to move devisions or at least will be a long way off another title fight. There is nothing Edgar can do to beat Bendo in a reamatch IMO. Pointless fight.

Re: Edgar Gets His Rematch!
Edgar is Dana's new Couture. His favouritism towards Frankie shown through when he proclaimed him the 2nd best P4P fighter in the world. Fact is, he's not top 2 LW. Hendo and Melendez are the top 2 in the division, and have been for a couple of years.

Re: Edgar Gets His Rematch!
Can't believe Edgar still gets disrespected so much on here. He beat BJ twice, (granted the first was very close, that's why they rematched) he came back from the most devastating opening round beating since Matt Brown vs Pete Sell to earn a draw against Maynard, which obviously warrants a rematch, then he was destroyed again before miraculously coming back AGAIN, and this time knocking Gray out in the 4th!! Then he gets up kicked through the ceiling against Bendo, nose explodes, yet he sill makes it a competitive fight and didn't get embarrassed in a close but not controversial (at least it shouldn't be) loss.
Personally I think he deserves the rematch simply for respect, although I really don't want it to happen. There's so many fights I want to see at LW, Pettis vs Bendo chief among them, that I just feel a bit gutted that this rematch has been made one things for sure though it's guaranteed to be another epic battle considering both fighters recent track record.
Decision again for me, and I think Bendo emulates Edgar- Penn 2, dominating him in the rematch.

Beno to win more clearly for me too. Although for good Lw matchups lets hope Nate beats Miller because Nate vs Pettis would be an absolute epic!
I wonder if Guillard will get the rematch with Joe Lauzon after all his talk and Joe doing so bad in his last outting?

Re: Edgar Gets His Rematch!
I've just ejaculated at the thought if Nate vs Pettis Don't even know who I'd back in that fight. Nate has reallly impressed me of late, especially the complete domination if Cerrone. How would Pettis do against Donald?
Guillard doesn't deserve a rematch. Does G-Sot have a fight lined up? He should fight him.

Re: Edgar Gets His Rematch!
After he loses against Bendo again, Edgar better not walk straight into a tile shot at 145.
No one should fight for a UFC title off the back of 2 losses, especially losses where they were comprehensively beaten.

It's a business at the end of the day, and there is interest in the rematch. If there was no interest in the rematch, we wouldn't be seeing one, regardless of how much Edgar stomped his feet.

Well dont forget that Edgar always does much much better in rematches before you put in too much money on Bendo. And the fight was not as 1 sided as you all would like to think.

Re: Edgar Gets His Rematch!
It was a pretty comfortable and comprehensive win for Henderson.
Bookies are going to be losing some money on the rematch.
