Arona was considered one of MMA's top p4p fighters back in the day, notching up wins over Wanderlei Silva in his prime, Overeem, Sakuraba and Dan Henderson (As well as many fans seeing him as the 1st man to beat Fedor if the fight were scored under modern MMA rules)
In 2009 he anounced his return and beat Marvin Eastman in a pretty lackluster performance and since then has gone virtually unheard of.
In an interview a couple of months back he said that he had been offered a a contract with SF before the Zuffa buyover but hadnt taken it because he wanted to join the UFC.
Probabally a bad move on reflection as if he had of fought and won under the SF banner no doubt UFC would have been calling him up to their roster.
At 33 Arona is a 3X ADCC winner with only 19 MMA fights and 3 KO losses under his belt he hasnt a lot of Mileage.
Does anyone see him finally joining UFC before the end of next year?
