Michael Bisping took Wandi down with ease and managed to keep him down for stretchs.

Sonnen vs Wandi is an easy win for Sonnen.

I hate to say it, but I agree. Sonnen v Wandi can only end badly for Silva. Crying or Very sad

I really like the idea of Stann v Sonnen though.

Wanderlei has some good escapes from the bottom, he got out from under Arona quite a few times, Arona is probably a better top position grappler than Sonnen, but Sonnen has a cage to shove him into, which changes the dynamic quite a bit. I think Wanderlei could get to his feet but not fast enough/often enough to get any real offense off if he fought Chael.

Wouldn't agree that Arona is a better top guy than Sonnen but it's irrelevant really, because Wandi's not close to being the fighter he was back in Pride.

Well, Sonnen is a better ground and pounder, but Arona is capable of not falling into triangle chokes. Swings and round abouts.

A lot of Arona's takedowns came from sheer explosive power, which I imagine will have dwindled through not seriously training/competing.

Such a waste, he'd have been a real threat in the cage if he moved across back around 2007. I think he'd struggle to get takedowns now.

Arona blew out his knee in 2009 and has had surgery since then he has been trying to get Dana to get him a contract, they met several times after UFC events and apperently Dana told him to fight one more time before getting in UFC.

Still seeing whats gonna happen, maybe he'll just stick to grappling contents and teaching.

There was a point in time where the only fighters in LHW division better than Arona were Shogun and arguably Liddell. I really think he was a top class fighter and he has the wins to prove it. Overeem, Wandi, Sakuraba, Ninja, Henderson, Mezger, Horn 2x. Plus he lost two very close decisions to Fedor and Wandi again, and both times a lot of people thought he won. Aside from that he lost to Rampage from "that" slam in a fight he was winning, he got caught against Soku and lost to Shogun 2005 version, who was completely unstoppable and arguably the P4P best at the time.

It's a real shame his career has gone the way it has, because IMO he can easily be a top 5 LHW. Not saying he would be the man to beat Jones, but he could definitley be a contender. I think he should fight a can, get a win and go to the UFC. Fight someone like the Janitor or Cane as a first fight.

I'm sure i read a Tatame interview a few months back saying that Arona was hoping to make a comeback on the UFC Brazil card.

He had talks with Dana and Dana said something like he needs to have and win a fight first, and if he can do that, then there is definitely a vacancy waiting for him in the UFC.

Arona was unfortunate to be in Pride when Wandi and Shogun were there. Had he been in the UFC at that time he'd have been the champ. No doubt about it.

Axe Murderer, my Ass. I'm more intimidated by Axe Body Spay.

Chris Callahan once said, "Wand is the God of violence; he is Ares." News flash: the old Gods are dead and I am their usurper.

You beat 22 men in a row over in Japan, and can't beat 2 straight in the US... Big difference when the refs not wearing an earpiece.
