The much-discussed light heavyweight contest between top prospects Ryan Bader (12-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) and Jon Jones (11-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) is finally official.

UFC brass recently confirmed on this week's edition of "The Ultimate Insider" that Jones and Bader will meet on the main card of the previously unannounced UFC 126 event.

While the highly anticipated and previously reported main event of Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort was not confirmed, the promotion did confirm that UFC 126 takes place Feb. 5 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) previously reported the event and the matchup.

There was some concern the matchup between the two fast-rising stars had dissolved following UFC president Dana White's proclamation at the UFC Fan Expo London 2010 that the bout was "in jeopardy."

Jones took to the stage the following day to quiet the concern.

"I've been really busy, so I haven't gotten a chance to sign my contract yet, but I think that fight will be set for Feb. 5," Jones said at the expo.

    "Bones" finally found that time.

Bader recently earned a high-profile decision win over longtime veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at this past-month's UFC 119 event. The win was Bader's fifth-straight in the octagon and 12-straight victory overall since turning pro.

Winner of "The Ultimate Fighter 8," Bader also holds octagon victories over Keith Jardine, Eric Schafer, Carmelo Marrero and Vinny Magalhaes,

Meanwhile, Jones fought most recently in August, when he needed just 1 minute and 52 seconds to dispatch of longtime veteran Vladimir Matyushenko. The victory was Jones' second-straight win since suffering his lone career loss in a disqualification result against Matt Hamill.

for the immediate future if there are any pull outs then ufc wont have any trouble adding a wec/ufc title fight. once the ball gets rolling there could be a title fight on every card.

I disagree, Ellenberger's a beast. Good wrestler, really strong, real power puncher. Fitch is still a clear and obvious favourite but there's upset potential there.

Ellenberger should have got a draw against Condit.

Ellenberger is outside the top 10, Fitch just came off Alves who is top 5. Ellenberger is good but he's got massive holes in his game and isn't close to the level of competition Fitch needs to be facing as he looks for another shot at BJ, Big step down. Condit would have been a better fight for him.

Some rumoured fights for Fight for the Troops 2.

    http://mmavalor.com/2010/11/02/ufc-fight-for-the-troops-2-shaping-up/

    Rumored Fights:

Kenny Florian vs. Evan Dunham: This lightweight fight is rumored to be the night’s main event. Florian is coming off a loss to Gray Maynard at UFC 118 that would have earned him a third lightweight title shot. Dunham suffered him first lose at UFC 119 when former lightweight champ Sean Sherk won a close split decision. Both fighters don’t put on boring fights and neither wants back to back losses on their record.

Matt Mitrione vs. Tim Hague: The UFC is doing great building up their new prospect in Mitrione. Hague has defeated two good heavyweights by first round knockout and has earned another shot in the UFC. Mitrione has been improving his standup and has an iron jaw, a trait Hague hasn’t always shown (KO’d in 7 seconds by Duffee). This is a perfect fight on paper for another standup war, and has good potential to be KO of the night.

DaMarques Johnson vs. Mike Guymon: A fight with two fighters that have everything to lose after high expectations and current loses that they will be trying to negate in this fight. These guys both have a ton of heart and this fight will be amazing if they both live up to their hype. It’s sad to say that after this potentially awesome fight, the loser will probably be sent packing.

Melvin Guillard vs. Yves Edwards: Once again we have Guillard slated against another fast striker that promises fight of the night if he engages. Someone is going to be throwing bombs in this war, let’s just hope it come from both sides. Yves will be the underdog in this fight but don’t look past this tough veteran, his striking is quite good, and he has a good amount of submission wins under his belt.

Mike Swick vs. David Mitchell and Charlie Brennenman vs. Amilcar Alves: All these fighters are coming off losses and will be fighting for their survival. Swick has always done a lot for the troops and is coming off a tough loss and an almost year layoff.

“MMA Global Invasion,” set to take place at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana, has reportedly been postponed due to possible inclement weather. The new date for the event will be Dec. 11, according to Jardine.

A tropical storm named Tomas could hit the island of Hispaniola, which is made up of both Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The storm originated on the west coast of Africa and worked its way northwest toward the Caribbean, producing heavy wind and rain along the way. Tomas beat up the Lesser Antilles last weekend, damaging the islands of Barbados, St. Vincent and Trinidad and Tobago among others.

Condit-Lyttle is now apperently on UFC 127 in Australia.

Miguel Torres - Antonio Banuelos replaces that fight for UFC 126.

The offical reason given for that was that Condit agent said he was offered the Fitch fight at 126, but Condit need a few more weeks with his family and this fight was too soon for him to take.

What i think happened is that, they would not run the risk of booking Fitch-Condit incase Fitch won and Koscheck beat GSP. Then they lose Condit as a contender and Fitch as he wont fight Koscheck.

Although GSP would probably get an immediate rematch if that happened....

What i think happened is that, they would not run the risk of booking Fitch-Condit incase Fitch won and Koscheck beat GSP. Then they lose Condit as a contender and Fitch as he wont fight Koscheck.

Although GSP would probably get an immediate rematch if that
    happened....

Fitch has said hes moving up to 185 if Kos wins, has he not?
