Mayhem-Diaz will happen. It'll have to be at a catch weight I'd imagine. Prob 178. I think it'll be one of the all time great fights. It's very hard to tell who'll get the win based on recent form.

A decision in a James Thompson fight? There's only one explanation... Kawaguchi must be pillow fisted.

Mayhem did well to keep his head straight after that entrance!!!
My knowledge of the far east fighters isn't very good but how does Diaz's BJJ stand up against Sakuraba's?
The more I see of Mayhem, both fighting and in interviews, the more I like him!!!

Saku's submissions come more from catch wrestling than BJJ. His leglocks and armbars are prob better than Diaz's. I'd give Diaz the advantage big time in terms of chokes though.

    Laughing

oh boy...firstly Sakuraba is not a BJJ practitioner, his style is pro-wrestling, which is essentially catch wrestling.
In his day, Sakuraba was easily the best submission artist in MMA and it wasnt even close, he submitted Royler Gracie and Renzo Gracie...and other BJJ blackbelts Conan Silveira and Shannon Ritch...plus other experienced grapplers like Carlos Newton, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Minowaman, Masakatsu Funaki, Ebenezer Fontes Braga, Kevin Randleman.

to be honest he has forgotten more about submissions than most BJJ blackbelts will ever know..but nowadays he is alot slower, alot older, and alot weaker than in his prime.
...so its really hard to judge him compared to a guy like Nick Diaz.
this was the first time he was submitted in MMA (the kimo fight was a work) and to be honest the loss could not really have come to a nicer guy! Laughing

edit: i agree with what anfield said, and also that due to Sakuraba having a wrestling background, he is more favoured to a top position whereas Diaz is lethal from his back.
so its a different matchup entirely from a grappling p.o.v. for mayhem.

Im too upset to talk now... Sad

Ive a stool and a noose set up and if Lil Nog and Crocop loose its going to be goodnight Irene! Laughing Laughing

Saku should just retire and Minowa needs to pick on someone his own size! Hellboy is the king of the low blow! Some great fights cheers for the vids, Takaya hit an absolute peach of a hook! That was a great shot! Ishii didnt show any sort of finishing ability but that ability to controll people with his Judo could translate really well into a cage at 205 I think,

Ive changed the rankings, lemme know what u all think....

Also how shit was Escovedo to get caught in a sub like that! Fuck sake could he not have rolled a little, that looked easy to escape!

Mousasi didnt look impressive either, had trouble finishing and gassed himself out punching...
